Is "I've been pinged by the app" the new "I'm washing my hair"?
I can already feel fake ones coming out for Grindr meets people want to cancel

Open plan offices became so common over the past few years preceding covid that it's almost as if the stars somehow aligned to allow covid to triumph. And despite their instagram appeal they're awful to work in with or without covid. It’s only going to get worse from next week !
offices with no social distancing woop. What’s with the 16th August anyway ? Surely the relaxation of social distancing and relaxation of the self isolation should coincide.
I’m certainly not having lunch with people and sitting in meeting rooms with a door open is not going to stop me having to self isolate if somebody in there has the virus.
I mean have these wankers in charge ever worked in an open plan office SURROUNDED by people or did they have a nice personal one they can shut a door and open a window.
Rant over
Oh god yes. I have to put earplugs in at times just so I can hear myself think. Can concentrate so much better at home.Open plan offices became so common over the past few years preceding covid that it's almost as if the stars somehow aligned to allow covid to triumph. Knowing your historical party allegiances this post gives me HOPE.Has there ever been a case of a British government gaslighting its own population in such a way? The strange and unnecessary narrative of ‘Freedom Day’, promoted under the auspices of people apparently wanting to return to normal, which runs counter to almost all data that is available on public opinion - people remains cautious and rightly so. Completely bizarre, particularly considering we are hardly under lock and key these days - just subject to sensible safety and distancing measures. Absolutely no lessons have been learned.

Had a similar thing here and I assume it just depends which side of the table you were sat on - makes the difference as to whether you were within 2m of a positive person or not!Went to the pub on Sunday for the football and four people I was in close contact with have been pinged almost at the same time. But I haven’t. Which seems strange. I’ve done a few tests and so hopefully all is ok and I’m just carrying on as normal.

STOP It's hard to think it won't be. Just a question of degree.I know it is only July before anyone STARTS, but are we really thinking Christmas might be affected AGAIN??![]()
I wouldn’t rule it out.I know it is only July before anyone STARTS, but are we really thinking Christmas might be affected AGAIN??![]()
Nope 50% so 3 days one week 2 days another. I mean I sort of want to go back but seems premarureAre your work sending you back to the office full time Alex? I did wonder if WFH would end for any of our Moopers.![]()
Yes but will anyone obey any rules anymoreI know it is only July before anyone STARTS, but are we really thinking Christmas might be affected AGAIN??![]()
Yes agreedCompletely agree that this is how it should work, and in the panic about people deleting it they've started to shift their messaging in this direction.
The problem is that it's too late as for almost a year the message has been "if you get pinged, you must isolate". When mass lateral flow tests became available they should have shifted the policy/messaging much sooner, but now they've left it too late and people are just abandoning the app in panic.
Can't remember if I mentioned this here, but when @Iguana got pinged about a month ago, it was on a Wednesday, for five days which meant staying in over what was going to be one of the nicest weekends of the year. I heard reports of people getting pinged at a similar time and I just couldn't shake the idea that maybe they'd just sent some random pings out to keep people at home.I’m not one for conspiracy theories, but the fact that 1.5 million people are projected to get a self-isolation notification from the app this week and yet the government has decided against tweaking the sensitivity makes me think they really do just want us all to delete it.
To be fair, the app itself recommends you turn it off if you're going to a health centre.Everyone I know who's been pinged used the date to trace their exposure back to... attending a vaccination centre, which it patently ludicrous.
I got an alert to let me know I'd been in a venue on the same day as somebody who had been tested positive but that I didn't need to self-isolate.
CLOSE ONE.
I've had GPs telling me they have turned theirs off.And I don’t think most people, even senior staff, turn it back on.
You can bet his symptoms will be downplayed though.I don't wish him anything bad, but I think it's a good thing to have a high profile case of someone catching it despite being double jabbed. People seem to think of they've had the jab they're totally immune.
