Really quite interesting that Scotland have brought in new rules that effectively limit large scale events but don't mandate limits on home contact (other than previously being "asked" to limit to no more than three households)

If that's the hand Scotland are playing, I can't see Johnson going any tighter than that, even if cases are worse here.

Limiting large scale events is a lot more enforceable than people meeting in private homes. Also much more likely to be complied and a lot less of a bummer imo

Didn't stop them before. But clearly compliance likelihood now is at an all-time low in the UK anyway, so that must be factoring into their thinking.

I would imagine there’ll need to be some kind of more stringent guidelines after Christmas that isn’t needed right now as most people are voluntarily isolating anyway.

But yes regarding Scotland if we had rules like that come in I’d be fine with it, they seem proportionate, especially if the tentative figures on hospitalisations not being as bad as they could be bear out.

Map fans! We now have a new colour on the UK Covid map for areas with cases over 1600/100k, and it’s BLACK!

Restrictions in Scotland from the 26th - Hogmanay events all off, sporting events restricted to as few as 500)

Well, FUCK.

I’ve already been on a work call with a client outside London complaining about how we’re all going into lockdown because of Covid-riddled Londoners again, don’t you all START.

Travelling out of the ANTI-VAX, MASK-FREE ABYSS that is East London to the home counties as we speak.

Tested of course but I can't help feeling like a PLAGUE RAT.

it's inevitable really when the department of education fails to do anything to pre empt christmas despite schools being completely short of staff and children with severe learning difficulties being unable to socially distance themselves.

i'll be grand and get by without seeing people over the holidays, but there are countless kids in our school whose holidays will be ruined, or who are at risk to an ever greater degree.

it's just a bit shit. hope everyone here is alright!

My last day of isolation was about two weeks ago now but I still suffer from the effects. Lots of coughing fits and feeling tired. When I went back to work I was back to being on my feet all day and walking 15,000 steps and I guess that was wrong to go back into that, but I didn’t have a choice. Not many people do.

I still think I’ve just got a cold but I have booked a PCR for tomorrow just in case as this cough is getting worse- it’s not “dry”, though- snot and mucus everywhere, so am guessing I should be alright…

The event I was going to NYD has just cancelled as no ones buying tickets

They've used a reference on the news earlier saying that we may not realize it on day by day numbers but the people who have died from covid since it started equals my nearest town having been wiped off the map. I wonder what is the analogy on global terms.

Google says 5.36m deaths worldwide total. That’s almost the population of Norway :o
