On Tuesdays I work at a health centre about a ten minute walk from my mother's flat. I literally walk past it on the way home, and there's a Tesco Metro in between. It's not uncommon for me to call in on the way home, and if I'm planning to, I usually ask her if there is anything I can pick her up on the way.

I spoke to her last night, after she returned from my niece's house for a birthday party (a journey involving two buses and associating with lots of kids), expressing the importance of isolating herself. I didn't want her to go in the first place obviously, but I knew there wasn't a chance that she wouldn't. Not that it didn't stop me asking her not to, of course. Anyway, when I spoke to her last night, I told her to think if there was anything she wanted me to get her, and I'd call her when I was about to leave today and get it for her.

About ten minutes before the time I normally leave, I had a text from her. 'Hello love, don't really need you to pick anything much up, as I got the bus up to Lidl instead. I did forget caster sugar though, so please get some if you can. Don't worry if you can't, I'll get it later in the week x'.

I fucking despair.

My Mum is not getting it either. She had my brother in earlier which I was annoyed at him for, then she promised me she wouldn’t have anyone else in and that was it, before calling me literally an hour later to say “Caroline from the Co-Op had been round with my lottery tickets so you don’t have to worry, love”

Just invite anyone who works in retail and therefore has loads of contact with loads of people in your house, sure.

My mum and dad are staying in. However the Waitrose delivery don't have a free spot for two weeks. My father is 71 and my mother is recovering from an operation.

Thankfully my brother, still isolated in China, has been in their ear so they have plenty of hoarded tins and the like.

York has had three cases to date.

Which is quite impressive considering yesterday it had four. I dont think we've had a new one in over a month since it all kicked off and now we've lost one somehow.

Dead now of course.

My dad is not getting it either and still goes out shopping or walking.

A poll here shows it’s the elderly that seem to care the least about this.

We basically got told today that we're staying open unless there's a formal government shutdown.

This country would do fucking poorly in a really serious crisis. I'm just back from the supermarket where there was no fresh fruit or veg, no fresh meat and no bread. The virus is clearly bad but most of the inconvenience so far is self- inflicted by idiots.

We can work from home, but we're not allowed to log on. Which basically comes down to working on documents saved on hard drive. Can't do that. I'm going in.

Over 1k new cases in USA today, I guess that's going to change very soon.

new york is already at 1.7k reported. if it were a separate country, it'd be just outside the top 10 countries with the most cases.

It’s a stupid thing to say but that guy is always looking around trying to drum up outrage. I’m over him.

Montenegro become the last European nation to get Covid-19. 2 registered cases.

Reykjavik is so dead it´s unreal. I mean it´s not exactly a bustling metropolis at the best of times :D but this is something else.

I literally off to panic borrow books. Apparently the library is rammed. Its been nice huns.

All museums and libraries closing here from tomorrow or Thursday. Public transport changing to a Sunday service from next week.

One of my best friends was supposed to be getting married there in April, sadly it doesn't look like we'll be going anywhere :(

I genuinely don't think we'll be back to living anything like we used to before June, at least.

This is all getting into 'Threads' territory now isn't it... Quite scary in that respect.
