Fuck it, I'm going to brave town for a TRIM. I'm working tomorrow and it's clearly the apocalypse beyond that so it's now or never

Places like Italy have been mostly testing people who go to hospital. Which if it affects men more, then it will appear that more men get infected whether that's true or not.

South Korea, with more widespread testing, has seen a higher infection rate in women.

In short, nobody has the correct conclusion, so it is impossible to come to generalisations about why those conclusions are occurring.

I suppose gender may not be the only factor though. Do those countries have a higher percentage of smokers who are male than female?

this is because it hit a religious congregation that is predominantly female in south korea. it's covered in the article i linked earlier, if you're interested.

lifestyle choices like more men smoking/drinking is also covered there.
 
Policies to limit the spread of coronavirus would need to be in place for "at least most of a year" to prevent intensive care units being overwhelmed, according to official scientific advice to the government.

The documents, prepared by the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (Sage), said alternating between more and less strict measures could "plausibly be effective at keeping the number of critical care cases within capacity".

Also some people at work who have got laptops in order to work from home have decided they don't like it and come to the office anyway. :)
 
Nicola Sturgeon is urging all Scots to stay in this weekend. Just close the bloody pubs and restaurants then you won’t need to worry about people frequenting them. It really is not rocket science Boris.
 
As long as pubs are open, people will think it's ok to go out, otherwise they would close them, which makes sense.
 
In the fourth supermarket that I had visited, I just got the last tin of chickpeas. I'll be honest, I basically came there and then.
 
Our locals are beginning to shut up shop anyway- there was 1 person in my local pub last night.

I guess it was self-isolating in a way...

We’re now being told we might be offered OVERTIME. So instead of trying to limit the amount of people in the office, they’re actually doing their best to increase it. Fucking ridiculous.
 
Managed to get some gluten free stuff to post to London. My flatmate, in turn, is going to help courier some of my clothes up.
 
I think the UK needs to be shutting down all places of worship, like in Germany. A lot of our mosques have closed, but plenty are still open. And since apparently, a quarter of UK deaths are from elderly Muslims, we really need our communities and imams to be taking it WAY more seriously.
 
My local spa charges me £1 on Wednesday for a loaf of bread. Today £2 for half a loaf. I found our M&S are doing standard loaves for 65p. I picked up three.
 
BBC News seems to be starting early today, so not sure if the press conference will be earlier too?
 
Lockdown this weekend surely.

I'm surprised at how anxious I have been feeling today - I had to go to 3 stores to get my sister nappies and the weird feeling of panic I had was rather grim. I was planning on going again at 2am (when the stock is getting put out), but even the 24 hour supermarkets are closing at 10pm now.

At least I'll be off the hook with that "limited edition" Baileys I got my mum for both her birthday and mother's day.

I have a bottle of red velvet Baileys that I really need to pop open at some point. Has anyone tried it?
