Eurovision will go on.
I know an eurofan that was diagnosed with tuberculosis just days before Eurovision and decided to go anyway (he actually told this on national tv), so coronavirus is not going to stop crazy fans to go anywhere :disco:

Do we have any US Moopers left? Given that Trump can't even fucking spell it, it really had better not get going over there...

CLOUDS AND SILVER LININGS :)

I wish I did have a silver lining!

Yeah this thing... it's "potentially serious" or "maybe nothing in the grand scheme of things" - but the media and all the doomsayers out there are LOVING the opportunity to sensationalise and cause panic. Problem is all this panic is going to royally screw over the economy. Yet another recession and 10 years of austerity... over basically the flu. And they all love to spread this thing of "40-70% of all population will be infected with a 2% death rate, millions are gonna die!" - no that's speculation combined with 2% confirmed case death rate. Confirmed cases are not the same thing as infections as you don't know how many people are infected with no symptoms and therefore no checking and no confirmation... or dismissed it as "a bit of a cold"...

I left work early today because I've not been well, and more than one person started reeling off the symptoms of the Coronasniffle to me to see if I'd got them. It's getting a bit out of hand.

So the Dow Jones has suffered it's worst one day loss ever likely due to this.

I’d not worry myself if I were you. It’s probably just Bronze John

If you believe the whole coronavirus outbreak is a massive flash in the pan (which I do) then it's a really good time to start buying up some shares.

I'd say about 10% of the passengers on the plane yesterday had masks on.

I never travel anywhere without hand sanitiser, so I'm confident I'm fully protected.

Was there ever this much panic over Swine flu? I can't remember.

Nowhere like now, as far as I can remember. No countries closed any borders.

I think there were similar levels of panic about things like swine flu and SARS, at least in the media. They love a good pandemic story and now that Brexit is all sorted () they need something else to write about. The fact that it's a different explanation for why our economy is going in the toilet is just a happy bonus.

i've been thinking of doing this for a while. i despise the stock market but it seems like a no brainer and i have a little money sitting around. i have no idea how one goes about buying shares though. you sign up for an online service i imagine? commissions need to be made!

It shows you how fragile our world economy is when one flu-bug could fell the whole damn thing.

Obviously I was initially very excited to hear that offices might be closed for months on end but then I remembered that I don’t work in an office

:enya:

I might treat myself to a bit of Friday night PANIC BUYING at lidl tonight! Make sure to stock up on 2 dozen bottles of albarino for my eventual quarantine. If I'm to be locked in my room for 2 weeks, I'm not doing it SOBER.

My big job was cancelled fuck

I know it’s not all about me and think of the children and the spare old people who died but I just became self employed and it ducking sucks

naturally I had a few drinks to get over the anxiety headache

ugh I’m going to die of SARS and be totally passé and déclassé

At my work they've banned all travel between sites in different cities and no external visitors.

But commuting 50 miles on the train every day is apparently absolutely fine.

We care (that the work gets done)

I am absolutely not ready for a 2 week quarantine. I mean, when I was housebound for two weeks post-op, it took me a good wee while to sort that out and I still snuck out for 10 minutes on day 12..
