And just to add to the stress, it's become QUITE APPARENT ALREADY that the possibility of however many weeks holed up with Mr L in a heightened state of anxiety is not going to be much fun at all.
 
I take it all public transport will be suspended before long? My friend said the number of cases would double every 4 days, but did the UK numbers not go up a third from yesterday which would lead me to think that it is spreading at an even faster rate?
 
Yes I'm glad Mr Star doesn't have to use public transport while working from home. But the thought of being stuck indoors with the kids for weeks is awful!! I think I would still go out for walks/ bike rides etc

No it's not. Not yet anyway.
 
Would public transit ever be suspended? In Italy I'm not sure it even is, how would doctors and other essential workers get to work?
 
We haven't yet entered the 'vertical' portion of the curve yet in the UK - we are getting there but not quite there yet. We are a few weeks behind France/Spain/Italy...

Obviously I get this, if I do get ill I'm going to do that even though it's not easy short of adopting a "don't give a fuck" attitude. It doesn't help that it feels like we aren't really doing ANYTHING, so no one takes it seriously and we all plod on as normal.

Maybe I'm being naive but a part of me hopes that the next few days will see people get panic buying out of their system, and then when we all have 37 bog rolls and 15 bags of pasta in our cupboards we can get back to normal.
 
County update:


Hampshire have the most, with 41.
Norfolk, Northumberland and Rutland the only counties without a single case.
 
Only 9 in Essex which in a county of 1.5 million is quite... unlikely... lucky... untrue?

It's natural, the WHO have even published a document on the mental health impacts of coronavirus.

I live alone so am actually enjoying having Moopy as some perverse outlet and sense of community, even if this thread wildly flip-flops between depression and reassuring nonsense.
 
This is wrecking my mental health - again not so much for me but for worrying about my parents, particularly knowing that my dad (67) is petrified of getting it and ending up hospitalised or worse - the fact that kicking up dust when tidying corners of the house bothers his lungs for at least a few days is a big worry, and all this talk of people with the virus struggling to breathe. I've literally spent all day just clicking around news and speculation for this (okay and some of it clicking around the possible causes for my 'abdominal fullness' which is another issue entirely, but nothing relaxing at all)

Looking at options for moving out to reduce the risk to them if I'm forced to keep going into work (for shopping they could always use Tesco delivery or I could do similar), but am also somewhat worried about the ~£400-500/month rent plus all the other bills considering this is likely to cause another huge recession and job uncertainty.

That all sucks, but its gonna be hard to move out quickly, especially at the moment.
 
I really don’t want to read any more about coronavirus, but with being unable to really DO ANYTHING ELSE when not cooking/cleaning/watching WANKY FILMS or Real Housewives it’s really becoming a vicious cycle.

Is a WINE SHORTAGE looking like becoming a thing? Having a bottle or two of mid to low-priced red in the house is giving me mild comfort. If the well runs DRY however...:eyes:
 
We went to Tesco today and I've never seen it so crowded, not even at Christmas. Frozen veg seems to be the go-to staple - everything was gone. Except for PEAS which was rather telling. Nothing like a virus to expose vegetable rankings.

I wish I hadn’t binged all of This Country. It would have come in handy during isolation.

Bullshit! My local supermarket had no peas left! :shock: And I'm sorry but I feel comfortable in saying that we the French have the superior PALATE.
 
We have now some tv hosts doing shows from their home, I had to double check the source because I thought it was a joke. Eurovision via satellite closer than ever.
 
It does seem likely a Moopy Mafia would work in the upcoming period. I think once the UK goes into lockdown.

How long does it take? Rightmove shows a flat available nearby, I take it you can't just go like "yeah mate I'll sign along the dotted line" and get the keys? I'd worry about getting food and furniture in afterwards, they're not really the priority at this stage

Not necessarily instant, but it depends. Checks and stuff normally take a while. At least a couple of weeks. You have a deposit?
