There should be an option between slightly concerned and absolutely terrified, because I'm somewhere in the middle, but I chose terrified because I had my parents travelling until Saturday night and it just hope nothing happens.
 
Restaurants and bars ordered to close after 3pm here. ALL GYMS CLOSED.
 
I haven't stopped thinking about this all day now and still have to go on the fucking tube tomorrow. Boris Johnson is a fucking cunt.
 
I do have a theory though that I'll find a boyfriend after this is all over though, as everyone will be ready and waiting for one by then. So that's my silver lining. :D

yes! if i had a country house i'd be there right now. my friend who does owns a fast food place and they're still holding out on re-opening for deliveries (so they don't go bankrupt in a couple of weeks) so she pretty much has to stay in town.

i was planning on buying the apartment i rent but my landlady kept putting off the sale.
on one hand i'm glad i didn't cause prices are sure to plummet, on the other i'm a bit sad it might never happen now.

That's probably too US centric. And possibly UK as well, such as our haste to respond has been. A lot of the rest of the world has been there for days, if not weeks.
 
It's due in some part to being out in it slightly later I'm sure, but rush hour today seems busier than yesterday.
 
One of my locals set off a load of fireworks for brexit and the owner went live giving it large. Last night, an hour after the government said people should avoid pubs, the owner was on a local group advertising for people to come down.

When I gave him some stick for it he started complaining about the government! Suck it up sonny, you voted for it.
 
What this all means for our current model of capitalism/consumerism is starting to occupy a lot of my thoughts. How fragile our system is has been and is being not only exposed but tested to its very core, and big cracks are showing. So many industries are on their knees before shutdown, airlines are begging for handouts, the way people earn next to nothing with zero support is now being laid bare.

Are we really all going to dust ourselves off and carry on as normal once this finally settles? Are people going to forget that when the shit hit the fan companies and governments didn't come to save us, our neighbours, friends and family did.

I know this isn't a war, but post war socialism gave us the NHS and publicly owned utilities. Could this be the catalyst for a big shift away from capitalism?

I am noticing that big banks have yet to even whisper the possibility of lending state and people a hand, like state and people bailed them out during the most recent crisis. who knows, maybe they're still working out the details :eyes:
 
and the ideological notes I'm taking from this is that, with regular employees being sent home (possibly even laid off) en masse and markets plummeting and productions halting, maybe labourers really is the source of wealth afterall, not some toupeed carrion at the top who wants us to believe that his vast wealth is trickling down to us

Oh I expect it'll be BUSINESS AS USUAL. We all suffer and if we don't die then we spend decades PAYING FOR IT
 
a wise move post-corona would be to nationalize all loo roll and hand sanitizer facilities

she could but i'd have to catch public transport + a taxi to get there and it seems like too much ado nothing. also, i'd have to deal with lighting a fireplace everyday.

not with these soft hands.

Same. I can't work from home but everyone higher than me can. They're mostly working from home and giving very little advice for the people I manage., other than checking if they have any underlying health conditions. We've made up a chart of those with conditions but also mostly those with vulnerable dependants.

A guy got sent home yesterday as his dad has tested positive. There has been no office clean or advice other than "go home and self isolate if you develop symptoms".
 
My cough has gone today but I am a bit stuffed up and have a headache and fatigue. Bleh. Almost certainly just a normal cold but I suppose I'm staying at home for a bit :gross:
