It’s behind a firewall, but the FT published an exclusive this evening:

UK offices set to remain closed for months
Office workers across the UK longing to return to their workplaces are set to have their hopes dashed by ministers preparing details of how to ease the nation’s lockdown.

White-collar employers will be expected to keep most staff working from home for several months to prevent public transport from being overwhelmed, senior government figures said.

Who the fuck is LONGING to go back to the office?!

Fuck me, that is a depressing read

the gym in August?!

Can anyone recommend a suitable AND NOT VILE mask which isn’t going to take a month to arrive? I was informed in a shop the other day that I wasn’t allowed in if I wasn’t wearing one. Cue rolled eyes and a vow to never return obviously, but maybe the time has come

Inshallah this will bring about the end of the office (co-working spaces for occasional meetings / big presentations will suffice). In turn, pushing down inner city real estate prices.

Gyms just need to adapt and start offering classes online / outdoors while their real estate remains closed. It will also save gays hours in productivity, not taking selfies in mirrors, not to mention all the time wasted on choosing the right filter.

I went to WILKO in my mask made out of a FOLDED HANKY and the elastic bits cut out of the tops of two socks yesterday.

My work just spent a FORTUNE refurbishing our office to a QUITE UNNECESSARILY FUSSY STANDARD and signed a CONTRACT for the next TEN YEARS

OOPS

Well that certainly wins today’s much-coveted MANDY AWARD for SERVICES TO GLAMOUR :disco:

The fourth phase begins on July 20th
In this phase, people can now travel outside their region. A slightly larger number of people may visit another household for a short period of time while maintaining social distancing. Small social gatherings by family and close friends will be limited to a maximum number of attendees for a limited period of time where social distancing can be maintained.

So if we follow the same rules In the UK I wouldn’t be able to see any of my family until the end of July?! :( So glad I saw them in March before it all kicked off

It’s ridic isn’t it. I might just wear a poppers sock across my face. Anything to avoid breathing in that Covid-19 air.

What about travelling to Ireland? I assume that is not even on the agenda yet? :(

Yeah, for personal reasons I'd love to know when international travel will start opening up but I think it's just too early to tell.

I would be happy if I can see my family in the autumn. If not, I would expect Christmas to be the date they'll be working towards, but I imagine the RUSH of people and I just SHUDDER.

Hopefully I will be able to take nearly a full month's holiday then to plan my travel carefully. I know of someone who lives in Brussels and had to fly to Madrid this week via Paris AND Frankfurt...

Since Friday we’ve now been allowed to have two people visit another household here.
All I’ve heard all week is “who will you have over?”.

I’m just going to pretend the whole thing is a dire situation still so I can continue not seeing anyone!

I bought a couple of washable masks on Etsy and a small pack of 10 disposable ones. I think that should do me. There are people stockpiling such things now in expectation of them being mandatory on public transport and those people suck hippo balls and should be destroyed.

Who the fuck is LONGING to go back to the office?!
I kind of am. I'm so bored of my flat, and miss the random chat and bitching of day to day life. I don't think I want to spend 5 days a week in the office but I definitely would never pick home working permanently

I would rather work in the office than work from home because I am not one of those people who is naturally hard working. I really need to be in the right environment or I will just doss off and do everything last minute.

Of course I'd rather not work and still get paid for it than the other two options so I'm in no rush...

I miss being able to pop into school. And my school from last year is 5 minutes down the road so it is making me nostalgic every time I walk past. I just got a message from an old parent asking me to add to her daughter's video birthday card which was sweet.

I'm sure it would be a different story if I actually had to go in though.

Do you use poopers for masturbation? I thought they were a sex with another person thing

I'm not eager to get back to the office per se, but a change of environment from "the house" would be nice.

If you're handy with some scissors and a sewing machine there are various patterns out there. Layer of fabric of your choice, layer of cut out fiberglass-free hepa filter (such as a Henry bag), another layer of fabric
