I feel like my hair is a good barometer of society at large. Some days it looks fine, and on others it seems like it’s on the edge of total collapse.

The arrival of warm sunny weather has finished lockdown. People clearly feel they've done enough which is hardly surprising given how utterly shit the government have been.

And the Government also talking ad-nauseum about the SACRIFICES people have made. Those sacrifices are going to drag out a LOT LONGER because of this approach, while countries that went all-in fast are going to be able to return to normal a lot quicker. This is what makes me the most furious!

One of the drivers is that they don't want to be seen to be the last out of lockdown, despite the fact that we were pretty much last into lockdown (Sweden aside) - that would look too much like losing. Add that to the fact that all the people pulling the strings would rather have another 60000 dead than a little less money and kaboom - Tory Clusterfuck.

There’s a girl from school on my Facebook moaning that the crowds are dangerous and ruining the beach. In fact it ruined HER visit to the beach. :eyes:

I swear I am unfriending and blocking anyone who does that shit on any of my timelines.

I walked past a Shisha bar yesterday, packed with student types crammed 3 abreast on outdoor couches, sharing pipes.

Nobody gives a fuck any more.

Huh? In the UK? How are bars open?!? I've not seen shops, restaurants, bars, pubs open anywhere... I'm confused.

Can we all not just track our activities through Grindr? :eyes:

Why announce it today if it doesn’t take affect till Monday, as obviously everyone will just be at it this weekend regardless?

This is what they've done with every easing of restrictions - announce it a few days before and then everyone goes 'well I'll start that now then'. It's an utterly bizarre tactic.

I have no idea, but everyone was sat outside and it was certainly more than whoever may have owned the place.

It's not on a very busy road so I suspect they're just chancing it.

So pleased that everything’s back to normal! I discover that a friend who lives in Surrey has merrily jaunted into London by train this weekend for a jolly, another friend is already seeing clients at home - “I cleaned everything!” :) - and someone else had a must-have acupuncture session yesterday. WELL DONE EVERYONE!

And in the meantime, another friend was admitted to hospital on Friday with what sounds like severe CV symptoms to me...

Quite a few pubs are open for takeaway and I've heard about the odd one that hasn't bothered to stop people sitting outside. A friend said the Breakfast Club in Clapham for one, until the police turned up. Guess this is a similar thing...

Oh there was a shisha place down the road from me that got busted for being open during lockdown. They're something of a subset.

My facemasks still haven’t arrived and I have to take a train, a tube and a bus tomorrow. is a scarf useless?

Buy a neck warmer and ride it up. Anything that prevents spit coming out will do. Good luck with the CHILDREN.

We've been given the proper FFP2 masks at work. They're so uncomfortable, they hurt your ears and it's a real struggle to breath with them on.

On my Saturday walk I went through Earlsfield (moderately busy zone 2/3 London suburb) and there was six pubs open on the high st. You can`t sit in them - takeaway only - but they certainly were doing a decent trade.

The Brewdog in Merchant City, Glasgow, is doing this too. Shame beer is disgusting though. Where are the overpriced cocktails being delivered from!?

M&S were selling face masks when I was in about 15 mins ago. I can't imagine Sainsbury's Tesco etc will be far behind.

(Waitrose will probably want you to walk through a shower and a trough of disinfectant)

were they fancy face masks? Like hand-woven and impregnated with sea salt or something?

were they infused with OINKS?

Nothing could ever be that decadent. A Percy Pig facemask infused with Oinks? What would you do for an encore? You pop one of those on your face at 8am, by lunchtime you'd be fucking everyone you know.
