It´s insane to me to see numbers like +20,000 new cases daily, when we´ve had just over 4,000 cases in total. Of course the reason for that is proportionality - Icelands population is about the same as Wolverhampton :D but still.

Things seem to be slowly but surely heading in the right direction here, still quite a few new cases each day but gradually falling and active cases are on the way down. Bars, gyms and most non essential shops will remained closed until November 9th, and I don´t see gatherings of significant numbers being able to take place until after Christmas, which means New Years Eve will be a rather drab affair. :(

On the briefing today, she has said that when they publish their next plan later this week, they will also outline what restrictions will apply from Monday and if whether they will apply locally or nationally. So yeah, pubs, especially in the central belt, may not open at all.

I am pretty sure that she said she was out laying the framework this week?

Yeah, you seem to be right. I would imagine that's tomorrow then.

Proper gutted that it took Tim Brooke-Taylor. Johnson literally killing the Goodies. :(

corona slightly on the UP here so we're likely to see new restrictions soon. government officials probably won't be getting back to the office for the remainder of the year (well except me because of some critical project so fml :))

however we've not even been remotely close to the numbers of deaths of the first bout

ooh we get the shivers

One of the local pubs has had 2 punters report testing positive. In their infinite wisdom, rather than shutting for a few days to be on the safe side and do a deep clean or even just keep quiet, they've proudly announced to the local rag that "the pub is safer than Tesco" and therefore they're staying open, and have given the tables a wipe.

that's one pub I shall be avoiding for the foreseeable future!

Are they not supposed to shut by law?! Christ.

My friend who tested positive nearly two weeks ago had her result in 4 days. Her mother (who she had spent time with) has been waiting 11 days currently for her result.

Surely something has gone wrong there? I can't remember what the form said when I did it, but I'm sure it was if you've not heard within 72 hours then chase up.

Oh yes, it's a fuck up, and on the cover of the local paper. Well, not her specifically, but the number of people waiting longer than a week.

32,500 cases today and BoJo is still throwing about the idea of a normal ish Xmas. He really needs to stop.

SLIGHTLY OUT THERE STAR. IT’S 20,530

THATS OKAY, someone is coming to me with a defibrillator and a clean pair of pants.

That said, the Zoe estimate is 38466 so something is amiss again, probably "lost" at the end of a spreadsheet. Prof Specter tends to say that confirmed cases should be around 3/4 of their estimate which would be a lot closer to 30k...

Quelle surprise!

But according to HandJOB and BOJO our Test and Trace is WORLD CLASS!!! :manson:

Another 'successful' appointment of someone who has ZERO CLUE of what to do. If I were a conspiracy theorist I would say it's intentional to hammer a nail in the NHS coffin while they can but that's too callous even for this lot Or is it?

JUST QUIT ALREADY!

Safe to say Germany's Test and particularly Trace has worked ok so far - significantly better than the UK's. But our numbers are starting to climb into the 14,000-15,000 region now and our health authorities are saying "we're basically not going to be able to track every infection" at the current rate. So yeah, nothing World Class at all about the way this entire mess has been handled in the UK these past 6 months.

Every virologist and expert when it comes to pandemic outbreaks has been saying "Act, don't just react" regarding COVID since February and March. Germany mainly reacted, to be fair but the reactions were largely appropriate. The only thing BOJO and his henchmen have done is react and react badly at that. A total shambles.

Spain now declared a state of emergency with minimum curfew requirements of 2300-0600 until at least next May.
