He was genuinely a bit emotional about his grandfather on last week’s GMB so he’s obviously sussed that that’s how to get an easy ride from Piers Morgan.
 
Decided in the end to book a private test on Friday before I travel, I figure £99 is worth it for the PEACE OF MIND.
 
It’s crazy that people are still scrounging and having to pay for tests across the country when us scousers can just rock up to about 20 different sites around the city and get a test without appointment with no wait and results within the hour

we are spoiled. They need to hurry up and roll this out more. The numbers speak for themselves.
 
Yeah obviously it must be a logistical nightmare, but they should have tried to roll it out nationwide just for the couple of weeks before Christmas at least.
 
I'm hoping it's just a cold coming through. The thought of being sick with young children to look after is worrying me

Meanwhile, I've never seen Mutti so emotional. People need to stop with the slight complacency that seems to be sweeping parts of the country.

That was the plan but all indicators suggested low take up because no one wants a confirmed positive meaning they had to isolate over Christmas.

They’d rather not know and infect their loved ones, seemingly.

God she speaks so genuinely and sincerely. It’s almost ALIEN for what we are used to in the UK.

It's highly unusual for her. She's usually the calm, matter-of-fact person on the ship, reminding everyone to stay on course at the same pace every when the sea gets rough.

But from all I've heard she's been increasingly worried and frustrated with the power plays during the conference calls with the minister-presidents of the 16 states in Germany.

When Mutti starts pleading with people, I think they take notice. Or at least that's the vibe I'm getting after this speech.

I think London is in a really bad way, if it were anywhere else I'm sure we'd be tier 3. I've just had an email from my Borough saying we've had a 60% increase. The national average is 131 cases per 100,000 and ours exceeds 220. They say we'll be tier 3 next week unless it suddenly drops
 
It's hardly a surprise. Those images of London are scary. Nobody in London seems to take it seriously. There'll be a huge internal battle going on between those who want to stay in tier 2 because of the risk to thousands of small businesses (not to mention the economy) and those who say tier 3 because they need to get it under control. There'll be uproar whichever way it goes.

It seems to be rising everywhere again. It's still down across much of the country, but the rate of decline has slowed considerably over the last 7 days, which suggests an upswing is about to happen. It's too early to say wave 3, but it's happening a lot quicker than wave 2 did.
 
I read it’s mostly outbreaks in secondary schools in London fueling the rise then feeding into the general population. It was rising before the end of the lockdown so I don’t think it has anything to do with pubs/restaurants. There’s probably also a lot more complacency in London as a result of the numbers being generally lower here than the rest of the country (until now!)

We're down to 127 now after being above the national average for several weeks. Perhaps we'll be swapping tiers.
 
Fuming that I’m booked into Dishoom next weekend and might have that taken away from me but overjoyed if they let Bristol out and I can have some fun during the working week.

That seems to be it. Had quite a few reported cases from work (we’re still all working from home), but all from parents who have had their kids bring it home.

Oh I know, but don't forget you are allowed a support bubble when you're on your own. Thing is you'll be careful, but others will push the boundaries and just carry on as if nothing has happened.

Even we're thinking of having my parents round, but we've said we will keep our distance and use paper plates etc to reduce any risk. And it'll just be a couple of hours.
