L'Bangarang, c'est moi
I think she's quite good, she's done some alright stuff
Sorry butI do not like Madonna, purely because I enjoy singers and she isn’t one.
. She sings, ergo she is a singer.ftfySome of you clearly cannot handle a CUNT.
That's about it for me. I don't really like her, but it doesn't matter that much, I play her music a lot, except the unlistenable last 15 years. Thankfully the first 20 were magic. She was my favourite artist overall throughout my formative years, and that back collection is undeniable.
However, I’ve never gone off someone’s music more than hers. I think there is about three songs that rank at 7/10 or so for me post 2009, and I don’t even listen to the albums even on release anymore.
Couldn’t give two hoots about her as a person, really. Respect her earlier support of various communities, find her a bit embarrassing now, but neither impact my thoughts on the music.
Not even GIRL GONE WILD?!She's probably my 2nd favorite artist of all time, after Kylie. But I don't have much interest in anything post 2009. I love her as a person too, even if she does have some annoying traits.
I said not MUCH interestNot even GIRL GONE WILD?!
This post is more important than COPERNICUSWould I want to hang out with her? NO! I've seen In Bed With Madonna, I know she's evil. But the role of an artist is to DISTURB THE PEACE. Sometimes that manifests in the form of fighting the good fight for those suffering at the height of the HIV crisis, sometimes that manifests as turning up at your Nan's front door and singing 'Gang Bang' threateningly through the letterbox.
But that is all the more reason to like her as an artist. I don't want to be best friends with my favourite artists.
I think this is where I stand really. She can be abrasive and that is absolutely her right but it also stops me from warming to her. It's why I don't like Novak Djokovic for instance. I wouldn't go so far as saying I dislike Madonna though.I respect her more than I like her. Not that I think she'd give a shit - and quite rightly so.
I wouldn’t say she “went a bit weird in the 90s”.
Strange trajectory yes. But really quite brilliant when you think about it. They’ve all held up, and certainly more memorable than a lot of more recent acts whose works are mostly indistinguishable from one to the next. She did a bit - the whole Erotica/Sex thing is really quite odd in retrospect, even if it's clear what she was reaching for. Plus Bedtime Stories was a more lowkey, experimental album. Then it's Evita. Strange trajectory.
