All the proof you needed that he considers Twitter ā€œhisā€ platform.

Imagine having such an ego that you’d buy a social platform to control the narrative.

That comment alone should really cause a mass walkout. I wouldn’t work for that.

I don’t understand why people are still using the platform. There are so many more reports of misogynistic, racist etc. hate speech. The algorithms are also pushing loads of US right-wing culture wars content to users. It’s an absolute cesspit.

Well, people are making excellent (if morally questionable) jokes about billionaires and CEOs in dodgy submarines.

Already responded to that tweet telling him he's a cis and to GET ON WITH IT, but that (along with the rest of the transphobic ranting he's been doing lately) might be the one that convinces me that after around 13 years my existence on Twitter is no longer compatible with the platform. Fuck that.

The only reason I would agree to be a billionaire is so I could immediately give the vast majority of it away to those who need it.

I don't "need" lots of money, but I think £50m would easily buy me anything I could possibly think of for the rest of my life. And I'm probably overestimating.

There’s a difference between inheriting / winning money and amassing it through a lifetime of ultra capitalist ideology that ruins countless lives, goes into business with the wrong sort of people, sends the wrong message, and just generally being an arsehole.

No thanks. Money is NOT everything

Andrew Carnegie said, ā€˜the man who dies rich, dies disgraced’. Why don’t we get ultra-wealthy like that these days?

My goal is to die immediately after spending the last Ā£/€/Independent Scottish Currency designation to my name. Being a billionaire just makes that so much harder to achieve. Think of all the eccentric purchases you'd have to make!

I love the bitterness. Like anyone here would turn down a chance to be a billionaire.
*raises hand*

Not sure I even want to be a millionaire.

I'd be happy with enough money to live a comfortable life in my own house (nothing fancy - enough room for a couple of guests and a VR room) with a reasonable car (certainly NOT a Tesla or anything wanky like that, maybe a Renault 5 EV or something) and be able to afford to go out, go on reasonable holidays etc, without having to work or worry about retirement.

Maybe to do that would mean a million or so, without digging out a calculator, but I certainly never want to be a billionaire. I have no need for that much money.

I think it’s mostly shut ins with no friends, who don’t realise that most people value so many other qualities in their interpersonal relationships above wealth and material possessions. I imagine if you have little else going for you it’s easier to imagine vast wealth as desirable, even though spoiler alert, it won’t fix you!
