Watching that, as much as I wanted it here I honestly don't think Glasgow would've had something comparable to all of that additional activity going on if we'd got it. If all of that was in Liverpool's bid I can see why they steamrolled everyone, it sounds amazing!

Why is the River Mersey so brown?

The distinctive murky brown colour of the River Mersey is not due to pollution as many believe, instead it's a result of the silt and sand that is kicked up by the fast current of the river.

They have announced the full line-up of events and commissions that make up the "EuroFestival" programme running alongside Eurovision in Liverpool.

It ranges from the sublime to the ridiculous (not to mention the many things that straddle both, like the outdoor vogue ball on coronation day and the National Opera doing a Eurovision-themed performance), but there is so much happening it's a bit overwhelming to take all of it on board right now.

They haven't even announced the full line-up for EuroVillage yet. I can fairly confidently say at this point that I have never experienced a city throwing itself so much into the Eurovision hosting role as this, and it's not hard to see why it beat crappy old Glasgow and Manchester in the bidding.
