Not quite a euphemism but I’m quite fond of using “this is not my circus and these are not monkeys” in work situations.

I've never heard that but quite like the sound of it, what does it mean? I use "pay peanuts, get monkeys" rather a lot at work.

Mr F's mum told him that his dog had "gone to live on a farm" when he was a child. He was telling me the story of it, way into our thirties, and I was incredulous to discover that he really, to that day, thought his dog had gone to live on a farm! Obviously I put him straight then he rang his mother and she admitted it got hit by a car and she'd had it put down because its leg was broken and she couldn't afford the vet's cost of resetting the leg.
