Friday Fire sale at Joanna Dees

I was going to slag off a random town outside Bolton but just about stopped myself as I do not want a beating from you or Floppet :D

Oh sod it, because Little Hulton is a shithole

You know I grew up in Little Hulton and that my mum still lives there don't you?

You also know that I know where you live don't you?

:D

Mr F got a new sicknote that takes him to 8th August because he still can't have his gallbladder removal. All non-elective surgery has been cancelled till further notice and there aren't even any surgeon receptionists working at the hospital. That'll be 51 weeks since the surgeon said he needed it removing and he'll have been off work a year. He got a call from the HR manager the other day who told him that unless he agrees to work from home they're going to sack him imminently. I was livid, he's covered by a sicknote so work aren't allowed to say that! Then the HR bloke insisted that Mr F write to the surgeon to find out when the operation will be happening. I promised that I wouldn't ring the HR bloke and give him a lesson in what he is and isn't allowed to say to staff who are on the sick but instead I've offered to write to the surgeon and I'm going to explain what the HR department at work said, yes I'll name and shame the company, and send a copy to the area-manager of Mr F's work too.

@Sheena you absolutely must contact the Practice Manager. Two weeks for a phone call is absolutely ridiculous.

Fucking hell, I advertised a summer internship (paid of course, because socialism) and I've had a fucking ton of applicants. Despite it stating Manchester, I've had people applying from all over. And I've had people who are clearly not students or graduates applying.

Only 2 out of about 100 have actually read the description properly as well.

I am going to call back. I went for a swim to calm down and it was delightfully windy and thrashy, so it’s spurred me on.

I think it's likely you had a dim receptionist.

But if you don't get any success this time, ask for the practice manager's direct line or email address.

Ordered two tests for corona. Had a headache lasting two days on mon and tues, took temp on Wednesday at work and it was normal 36.9, but been going to bed early every night this week, was really achey yesterday too.

weirdly I’m fine at work, maybe cos I’m so busy, but as soon as I get home I feel flu-like.

Is this the future now? Everytime feeling unwell it’s a corona panic

That doesn't sound like coronavirus though, does it? That's more like my symptoms when the GP has put it down to nervous exhaustion - particularly if you don't have a temperature.

I always get confused with the temperature. In japan they put the thermometer under your armpit (and so ‘normal’ is lower than we’d think in the UK, not that I know that either)

now they scan me with a laser gun

no you’re absolutely right, I was maybe drastic to order but I might not use them depending on how the next 24 hours go. Nervous exhaustion sounds right - work has been an absolute nightmare, particularly as some parents have been so demanding, I’m getting emails at midnight, being asked to basically explain government policies. I understand that everyone is frustrated, particularly those with children, but I do believe everyone is doing the best they can.

I think it kind of is the future for those of us who get panicky at these things. Have to admit that for several days after I go in to work to pick jobs up I'll wake up in the morning with the slightest sore throat or have a hot flush and am terrified I've caught it despite the fact I wouldn't have thought twice about the morning sore throat before all of this and hot flushes have been the norm for a long time now.

Good luck sticking that swab up your nose, my sister says if there isn't blood on it when you take it out you haven't stuck it far enough up there.

SO I am off to get a Thames Clipper to meet <6 friends outside in Greenwich (allowed) and who knows whether a couple of those friends might happen to catch the same boat as me :o
