I don’t think Dany’s turn has come from nowhere - they’ve dropped plenty of breadcrumbs. Crucifying the slavers, incinerating the Tarlys etc.

I just wish they’d given us more time in her head this season. It feels like we’re experiencing her fall from grace entirely through the eyes of the male characters, which sucks. Why not bring back Harry Lloyd, the Dothraki witch woman etc for some good old fashioned fantasy sequences, for example?

With all he’s seen and learned of her, Jon following her blindly based on fucking puppy love totally undermines any shred of credibility he might have had left, too. And I fear the show isn’t going to call him out on it.
 
Do we know if the incinerated body at the end that Arya was staring at before she rode away on horseback was anyone significant? I thought possibly Hound?

Ah the lady, and her daughter that Arya was helping? That would make sense, as we saw them getting burnt to a crisp a few minutes earlier.

I have such mixed feelings about this season. I mean in terms of visuals and being spectacular, it's like nothing else on TV.

But what an underwhelming way to write out the best character in the show in Cersei. Just standing staring for an hour, then pleading for her life for 30 seconds.

And if Jon ends up on the throne (and I can't see anyone else getting it to be honest) it's going to be the most dreadful, predictable 'give it to the bland, handsome, honourable male lead' ending ever - which is so much less than this show deserves. I'd much rather see Dany go so mad she kills Jon and keeps her place because she then would be the true heir.

And as if Arya would have survived that. EVERYONE ELSE is burned to a crisp around her and she survives completely unscathed. Not a single other survivor in her vicinity. That's pissed me off tbh.
 
I just got BORED. It was rerun off the other week lets shove a load of special effects out there and occasionally some PLOT. Lazy. Not buying Dany personailty change and Jon can fuck off.
 
Is Cersei actually dead?! It surely cannot be the end of her. :angry:
 
There has always been signs of Danys tendencies but burning innocent women and children really feels like something she wouldn’t do based on how they’ve written her story arc.
 
I'm actually OK with the change in Dany - it's been hinted at. Why they didn't make Seasons 7 and 8 the standard 10 episodes each is beyond me... they'd have had so much more time to slowly have her become this and throw in more subtle hints.

But I'm just so angry about Cersei. She's done fuck all the entire season - then just dies doing nothing whatsoever.

I kinda disagree. She's always struggled to control her lust for vengeance. I feel like when she freed the slaves in Meereen it was half for their benefit and half to satisfy that lust. Also madness and paranoia just runs in her family. So the spiral towards all out destructive revenge has always been foreshadowed for me.
 
I hope Cersei is still alive.

I will accept no less than a Sansa vs Cersei CONFRONTATION!

I think this is my least favourite season. The show peaked for me sometime mid-season 7 when they all gathered in King’s Landing. Don’t like the way the story is going.

THIS. With pretty much all of the seven kingdoms wanting revenge on her, she gets crushed by some falling masonry :(
 
Yeah Cersei really hasn’t had much to do at all this season. The least they could do was give her an epic exit. Which is why I can’t help but feel she’s not dead?! I mean I know she should be after that scene but something just doesn’t feel right.
 
I kind of liked the way Cersei went out TBH. She actually hasn’t often had a plan B. She’s consistently won through sheer ruthlessness, but she’s a bad tactician and frankly she’s often been very lucky.

Having her fail simply through her luck running out feels correct.
 
It was terrible writing. Trying to equate that somehow with her personality is a reach too far. She could have run out of luck while still having some MOMENTS or doing SOMETHING active to try and ride that luck.
 
She had the best plan b in the game when she blew them all to pieces :disco:
 
There was such an easier plot device they could have used to get the same result. The castle was surrounded by stores of wildfire. She could’ve burnt the castle in a vengeful rage and accidentally set off a wildfire explosion that took out the rest of the city. It makes sense that she would still go after the castle after the surrender, but to torch the whole city’s populace? It would’ve made her character a little less black and white, but still sew the seeds of doubt for the inevitable revolt against her in the next episode.

The only ending that will satisfy me now is if Cersei crawls from rubble as a the new night queen and slaughters any man left standing.
 
I don't mind the Daenerys rage bit, to be honest, she is the daughter of the mad king after all, I just thought the whole episode was made to spend up a load of used budget. Lots of extras rolling around on fire, lots of close up gore, lots of tumbling rocks and rubble, very little actual plot.

The whole story so far has been full of twists and deceit but it seems to be following a very bland storyline now. I'm hoping for some big surprises in the final episodes.
 
I really enjoyed it, but then I've always been a fan of things actually happening

I’m honestly so livid about the treatment of the Lannister’s. Cersei should’ve only went out in the campest way possible. At least we’ll always have the iconic Walk of Shame <3

Fuck Jon. Fuck Dany. Fuck Arya. Fuck Tyrion. Fuck this show.

I swear to fucking god if we get more Fat Sam & Gilly next week...

I mean obviously they wanted to make Cersei's death as cowardly as possible, turning her into a complete weasel who couldn't squeeze out of her problem or her debt. But it's all too sudden. They didn't give her enough time to become such a pussy. And in the end it feels very "Oh...ok"

the show has really needed the missing books
 
I think I have come to terms with all of this, I only wish it was excuted better, but that would have required a couple of more episodes.
