Gavin & Stacey

That’s not true beyond the two leads. The rest are entirely well employed in major roles. To say this is Steadman’s only big gig, for example, is nonsense! She’s been in loads of stuff since- well, relatively, considering her age.
I was saying Steadman and Brydon were the major exceptions as the ones who are high profile out of this, along with Cordon. I can't think where I've seen Gavin, Stacey, Nessa since this finished.

Joanna Page purposely opted out of showbusiness for a few years to raise a family, I'm sure they mentioned in the documentary before the last special. And she's had two children since.

Really though? I don’t like to take apart things people really like, but I’ve always been baffled by this getting critical acclaim. It’s very watchable but this is due to it being so basic? Maybe I’m missing the LAYERS but stuff like James Corden ordering a curry don’t really seem like especially noteworthy writing. For me it’s more on the Mrs Browns Boys side of the spectrum than The Royle Family

This is an unacceptable opinion.

She is a LOOSE WOMAN these days.

Ruth Jones is currently in Sister Act in the West End. Do we think this was probably written a while back but they have just decided to go ahead with it now?

I get the impression that Rith Jones prefers writing rather than acting. Has she performed on anything other than Stella, which she also wrote?

Plus she's written a few novels and had a Radio Wales presenting gig for a few years.

I would agree that I think she picks and chooses what she wants to do. I wouldn’t think she would have any shortage of offers.

Joanna Page does a podcast with NATALIE CASSIDY.

She's just doing that now.

I don’t understand how somebody who loves Nighty Night as much as @Suomi can’t appreciate the humour in this. Julia Davis is basically playing a toned down version of the same character!

”Yes, the photo I used wasn’t the most recent but I ask you Pam, have I really changed that much in fifteen years?”

I can't wait for this - i need to remind myself of the last Christmas special which I think was two episodes (?) I was away at the time so it was a bit of a blur but I concur in terms of yes its bit basic on the premise, but its very very social commentary like the Royle Family was with much more on location.

The last Christmas special was just the 1 episode.

I just assume that every woman who has appeared on TV at some point must get an invite to be on the Loose Women soon after they hit 40.

No its hard to get on these days 4/5 women, lots of boxes to tick

Speaking of Natalie Cassidy, she currently has the biggest podcast in the UK with a 4.9 rating. Bigger than Joe Rogan, Diary of a CEO, The Rest is Entertainment.

How did THAT happen?

Joanna Page is incredibly likeable. She just emanates sunshine.

This one is just R NAT, Joanna is on the BBC one with Natalie.

It turns out Natalie Cassidy is BOOKED AND BLESSED.

I can’t believe she’s in it - I presume it’s a FAVOUR to Ruth Jones

Hang on

I had to check that this wasn't satire news

But Natalie Cassidy REALLY IS NUMBER ONE

And she REALLY IS the parody. 2 minutes in to episode 1 and she's waffling about wallpaper :D

This.

I have been watching James Corden, Ruth Jones and Alison Steadman in FAT FRIENDS recently. I can’t recall it when it was originally released but it is quite a good watch if somewhat dated.

I'll miss Doris (RIP) but, despite Corden's subsequent mission to become the most annoying wanker on the planet, I do think this has a wrap-up episode in it. The show remains a masterpiece of ensemble casting, the titular characters being no more than a narrative device for an exploration of the lives of two very different working class extended families and their friends.
