How do you feel about throuples?

This is how I feel

With the Una Healy story cropping up in recent days, I'm curious

I've gone with bit weird

I feel people can and should do whatever they want in that sense but if a friend/family member of mine was in one I'd be a bit 🥴

I think I would quite possibly be wrong to feel that way, but I would

Yeah, everyone do whatever you want and it's fine, but I would feel uncomfortable if a third person joins my parents in a throuple, or something like that.

If everyone is consenting and happy then yeah, have fun loves.
Yeah, this for me too. I don't think I'd ever personally be able to be in that sort of arrangement myself (same with open relationships etc), but if everyone's into it then knock yourselves out!

I am a big believer in everyone doing what makes them happy!

I do find the gays who make being in a throuple their entire personality and feel the need to make a PUBLIC STATEMENT about it all very tiring, but that's not really exclusive to the THROUPLE COMMUNITY.

I'm here! I'm queer! And I don't want to hear about it!

I do not think it's for me - AT ALL but if it works for someone else? Go for it, beb.

On one hand I’m all for people being themselves without judgement and it’s really none of my business but from a personal point of view it does seem a bit odd, in that I don’t think I’d consider it. So for me I’d say weird though I wouldn’t criticise anyone for being in one.

Well both, really. Not at all for me, but if it's an honest and equitable relationship for others, more power to them.

It’d be interesting to see what the LIVING ARRANGEMENTS are.

My friend is in a throuple (they were a couple and then he joined in). However it feels a bit unbalanced, in that my friend loves one of them and just likes the other.

Oh my god, what a nightmare. I don't think I could be in a throuple unless I knew I was the main one.

I do often wonder with throuples and open relationships, what the ratio is of genuinely happy and fulfilling for everyone involved vs somebody’s crying themselves to sleep most nights.

But then there’s probably just as much buried sadness and dysfunction in a lot of monogomous long term couples too.

But I can see how having a third person who can fulfill some needs that your other partner can’t is better than trying to change your partner into someone they aren’t

Another friend of mine has just opened their relationship. They started monogamous then they were sleeping with guys but only together and now they just started doing it separately.

From what I gathered it just happened organically and they seem to be happy this way. They’ve been together for 8 years and have a strong relationship that this extra sex doesn’t seem to threaten them.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great that people - particularly LGBT+ but increasingly young people of all stripes - feel able to redefine what a successful relationship looks like. It’s always going to be challenging to strike a perfect balance that mutually fulfils everyone, but better to be upfront and open to those discussions than to live in bitterness and repression.

Well, yes, I think this is it. We're all human beings and we all bring our own complexities, neuroses, and dysfunction to the table, whether we find ourselves in a relationship, a friendship, a throuple, a marriage, or a polycule.

Sometimes those things mean it just DOESN'T WORK, but it's not necessarily the format at fault...

I put “bit weird” but I’m somewhere in between. To be honest, live your life and I couldn’t give a fuck what you do, but I also just can’t help feeling it would be so strange and denotes something missing in some way.

I was asked to be in one about a decade ago :o

Honestly, it must be quite the thing in Australia as I even had a somewhat similar proposition more recently and all of them were Aussies.

A friend of mine was in one. He also seemed to ALWAYS need to have someone with him whenever I met up with him so apparently this wasn't just limited to his sexual relationship.

Tbh “bit weird” isn’t the phrasing I would choose. I’d go with “I don’t really get it”

But I can’t find a boyfriend anyway so what the fuck do I know

I’d personally prefer a harem type of arrangement, but each to their own. :)

I honestly find that being in a two-person relationship is enough to manage. If we added a third person, I think we'd kill each other.

I am oddly fascinated by a couple-cum-throuple I knew from a few years ago. Originally a very narcissistic American and his British husband. The American clearly being the dom top in the couple. Another American was added last year, and the British husband looks incredibly unhappy and dead-behind-the-eyes in all their photos and Instagram stories, while the two Americans seem very happy. I do wonder whether I'm applying my own prejudice onto them when I look at them, but knowing what I know about their personalities, it tracks that the British husband has given in to his American husband's demands, rather than wanting this in the first place.

Some of the most contented people I know are in three person relationships or, whilst not exactly the same, open relationships. I would definitely be receptive to it.
