How do you feel about throuples?

This is how I feel

I don't know, maybe this makes me one of the people this post is about but I just see people making light of a type of relationship setup that everyone here seems to actually support in principle (whether or not they would actually want to engage in one themselves).

I don’t think it’s really supportive. If someone here was in a throuple they sure wouldn’t want to bring it up after reading this thread.

I'm in a throuple with Mrs Bev and @vesp's nuts roasting on an open fire and -

Well, maybe you're right - I appreciate that I'm not in that situation myself and maybe it's hard to fully empathise, but to me it seemed like people making quite harmless jokes. Happy to take on board other perspectives of course! I also appreciate that the posts aren't in a vacuum, and can have a cumulative effect on the person reading them.

To be honest, yeah kind of!

It's all very reminiscent of straight people discussing gay relationships.

If it was someone from the outside then maybe, but anyone who posts here regularily would surely understand what’s said as a light joke among friends (who ultimately agree on the subject) as opposed to something deliberately offensive.

Not surprised though that a heteronormative concept such as a wedding is what ruined this open minded discussion. :)

None of whom are actually in a throuple though... Again, straight people discussing gay relationships, 'light heartedly'... :eyes:

being gay isn’t a choice. Being in a throuple is a choice. They aren’t the same thing

'Being gay is a choice' is also the language they used against us back in the day.

I'm not saying that they are comparable, they are not, but the whole language/stigma/opression/sly jokes etc does not sit right with me.

If three consenting people want to enter into a relationship together, let them. Who gives anyone else the right to judge?

I've gone with bit weird

I feel people can and should do whatever they want in that sense but if a friend/family member of mine was in one I'd be a bit 🥴

I think I would quite possibly be wrong to feel that way, but I would
I fully appreciate dUb not returning to this thread after post 3 to see the mess he's made :disco:

My feelings on this are VERY STRONG in that nobody should have STRONG BELIEFS about other people’s relationship setup, really. I think relationships work and fail in plurality of forms and that’s pretty much that. Having said that, me and @Suomi in a throuple with some unsuspecting Turkish daddy would be amazing TV but POOR SERHAT would NOT be able to withstand the level of hysterical drama for no reason and we would 100% get dumped in the Bosphorous :disco:

My favourite ever multi-partner relationship was not a GOOD EXAMPLE of a loving one and has nothing to do with regular throuples. Does anyone remember psycho Tumblr silicone injection death pup master scream queen, Noodlesandbeef, who literally got away with manslaughter because INTERNETGAYS signed up to be his slave? What a RIDE. And even then I still don’t really judge that setup because everyone has different appetites and needs and queer people might as well express their right to construct their own version of what a relationship means.

Right I’m going back to making my husband’s dinner like it’s 1945.

Oh SHUT UP, stop trying to make ridiculous comparisons where there aren’t any.

It’s fuck all to do with not recognising the validity and more about having THREE people to pay for!
Particularly if you're only really friendly with ONE.

But then if you have a throuple all with good jobs, are you allowed to insist they can't get away with a £50 John Lewis voucher as a gift?

I hadn't considered the edge of bed situation and someone being in the middle.

I think I'd need a triangular bed, with the cats in the middle.
