I think Big Brother is the only thing I've watched on ITV for years. I gave up on Masked Singer a few series ago and I can't think of anything else I've watched that is an ITV production.

I suppose it serves a purpose giving WASHED UP HAS BEENS a trip to Australia every year though.

I think it does aim a BIT LOW sometimes (it is a commercial broadcaster) but it can do a good drama.

Rather than WASHED UP HAS BEENS going on a trip to Blackpool?

ITV and BBC are the ones I watched the most but I always record anything from ITV as I hate adverts. Both channels have their merits but I don’t find much if any difference in the production values. 🤷‍♀️

In my life I don’t think I have ever met anyone with the active dislike that a percentage of Moopy has for ITV. It baffles me.

I think they have upped their drama game recently. At least on occasion.

But I bloody hate adverts, won't watch anything live, and then resent how they wreck the tension and flow of everything if you whizz through them.

Also, fuck off Ant & Dec.

I hate adverts too but it isn’t a problem for me now as I record anything I want to watch on ITV.

I really like Ant & Dec though I have to admit. They were poached from BBC many a moon ago I think.

Everything they put on is generally the most dreadful tat.

If there are gems to be found in the dreck, the branding will have already put me off and lead me to avoid it.

I can't bear watching serial TV anyway, so their thing is unlikely to ever be for me.

It is still a problem for me though. If you whizz through them, that's a pain. And if you download it without them, somehow the pacing is affected because you can always tell where they would be.

I don’t get it Chrissy. I think the main two channels offer the same variety of programme to the same level. The dramas on ITV are no better than BBC and if you haven’t watched many of the dramas on ITV because it is ITV then you are missing out. They both offer fantastic content.

I don’t look in to it that much to be honest and haven’t noticed that at all. Possibly because you remember watching it when you couldn’t skip adverts? 🤷‍♀️ Certainly when I watch anything it doesn’t seem to pause to go to an advert?

But even if it doesn't pause (and this could just be a me anticipating it thing) I usually feel like you can always tell when the ad break would be from when it was broadcast. And it affects pacing.

From what I have read on here it seems to be an ITV is “common”, “terrible”, “POV, “council”. It’s all very TORY and from people who seem to think they are above it. I was born working class and will never forget my roots.

I'm a terrible sample audience member to be honest Rita. I wouldn't watch dramas on either channel, as they're not my thing in any format.

On top of that, shows like I'm A Celebrity confirm how awful ITV comes across to me. It's just not for me and I'm fine with that.

That's an outdated view.

We're CHAMPAGNE SOCIALISTS looking down on what the REFORM VOTERS watch.

I don't mind shows seen as 'common' - I'm rewatching old Waterloo Road episodes.

I just can't see anything on there I'd be inclined to watch.

I think we should all admit that Downton Abbey was a glorious oasis of Maggie Smith in an otherwise barren desert of a television show. Every scene that did not involve her was terrible.

What do you watch?

It still has the most watched tv show of the year in Mr Bates VS The Post Office too which is no mean feat.
