ITV/STV is...

This probably isn’t a good thread to start just after watching six weeks of Big Brother on ITV? :D
Au contraire, I have very much earned the right to start this thread after suffering the INDIGNITY of a commercial broadcaster.

I voted for bloody brilliant but it also has a load of crap that I wouldn’t watch but I would say I like it. It’s better than MEH but certainly not brilliant by any means

Do you not have something you can record on? 😢 WHO WATCHES THIS SHIT LIVE IN 2024 OTHERWISE?

There's more to commercial broadcasting than just ADVERTS. The stuff in-between the adverts is ALL SHITE TOO, Big Brother excepted (Marcello excepted from that exception)

OMG I still don’t understand. You are confusing me so much as you still haven’t given a VALID reason why you don’t like it.

You know what. I actually don’t care, horses for courses. I was just trying to understand but it’s a dislike because of nothing. Fair enough. :D

I don’t get your political shit babe. I don’t frequent those forums so please don’t bring it in here. WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?
It's a picture of former culture secretary Nadine Dorries at a select committee, when she didn't understand the difference between commercial and public broadcasters. Specifically, that channel 4 was a public broadcaster.

This is all very tit for tat and is getting boring. Still no further forward and probably won’t ever be and who really cares. Nice of you to keep me entertained on this dreary Sunday evening. I Thankyou. 💋

Obviously ITV is trash, with a splash of decent drama (most of which will end up on Netflix anyway).

Least we not forget though, that the BBC still broadcasts MRS BROWN'S BOYS.

Like Christian, I just don’t watch any UK TV dramas so I can’t comment on any of that. I did watch Mr Bates vs The Post Office and that was very good, but whatever acclaimed stuff they have starring Sarah Lancashire, Surrane Jones and the likes of them, I just don’t have a clue.

I very much enjoyed LWT in my childhood, but now ITV is practically the same as Channel 5 in my pecking order of terrestrial preferences.

Was Happy Valley ITV? I would have watched it on ITVX anyway, I don't even have live terrestrial anymore, I don't even plug the TV in. I do everything through apps.

That's the only ITV thing I've watched that I can think of since X Factor.

Is Zen a jilted former lover of STV local star SEAN BATTY? Is that the reason for the irrational hatred?

ITV is overwhelmingly AWFUL for documentaries. There is an example of a huge difference in production values for you @Rita.

The Beeb gets loads wrong (including the afore mentioned "sitcom") but it also gets a lot JUST RIGHT.

They both usually have very similar headlines so if I wanted to catch the news I wouldn’t really mind either way.

Personally I love David Attenborough on BBC but can’t really recall any other documentaries I would actively sit down and watch.

David Attenborough is great and all (I love him) but it is the BBC's Natural History Unit which is absolutely WORLD CLASS.

None of them are perfect I would agree. I watch and enjoy both, and couldn’t really care what channel something is broadcast on.

Sorry but I can't think of anything that ITV does particularly well. At all.

Even their half decent dramas are ruined by the ADS.

If I think of CHRISTMAS DAY over in the UK though everything I would be mostly interested in would be shown on BBC.

The dramas are fantastic and no different quality to the BBC. They both show pretty much the same stuff in regards to stand alone dramas. I don’t watch ads. EVER. Anything on any channel that shows commercials gets recorded in my house and watched around 30 minutes behind.
