I've just discovered Anne-Marie David's 'Tu Te Reconnaîtras' on my laptop

It's him, right enough. I've found him on other forums/abba fansites always using the same format for his name as well. Like you say though, it's all very dry factual stuff (although :geek: heaven if you're into it). How SAD for him that the one time he ventured out of that mode THIS happened :( :D

This is TRUE MOOPY GOLD. When Magnus turned up I thought I was going to die from suffocation :D

The sad thing is that he peddles the same old shit on Buzzjack under the name zeus555 but is NOWHERE near as interesting, mainly because he never actually posts anything bizarre enough to get picked up on and spin off into an argument :(
No one goads a LOON quite like the MOOPY COLLECTIVE :D

In your experience of Abba forums and fansites, have you ever witnessed any of the HUNDREDS that took him up on his offer?

I've never seen him offer elsewhere, to be honest. But I tend to only lightly dip in to Abba specific forums, as the members sometimes scare me :shy:

Can we track him down and send him a nice long email begging him to come back?

'You should not have insulted his padded bags' :D

This thread is the gift that KEEPS ON GIVING (in padded bags) :disco:

I hope that ABBA do reach the UK Top 10
in 2011 - the Singles Chart Top 10. They may
have sold almost 5 Million UK copies of 'Gold',
but, the truth is that they have not been in
the UK Singles Top 10 since January 1982 - 29 Years
ago.....(When 'One Of Us' spent its final Week in the
Top 10 - No.6 - in the W/E 16th January 1982 Chart).

So, they need not have a No.1, to delight me -
a No.10 Hit, would give them a 20th UK Top 10
Hit. Making ABBA one of the few Groups to have
as many. Even Girls Aloud had 20 - ABBA have been
stuck on 19 since 1982. It would be good to see
ABBA join The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Queen, &
U2 - other Groups with more than 19 UK Top 10 Hits.

'HAPPY NEW YEAR' - TOP 10 IN THE NETHERLANDS

I'm delighted to say that 'Happy New Year' has leaped
from No.47 to No.8 in the Dutch Singles Top 100.
(It was originally a No.15 Hit there, in January 2000).

1) It is ABBA's 24th Dutch Top 10 Single.

2) And their first since 'Under Attack', in
January 1983 - 28 Years ago this very Month.

Just read this thread and for the past half hour...I've been crying!

My favourite part was Sheena's 'This makes me want to see abortion photos'

Hilarious!

Has cheered my evening up a treat!

2013 BUMP

Considering it didn't get a single bump last year. I always think this a great introduction to moopy for any newbies.

I don't think I ever saw this thread before...Moopy used to attract some quality loonies.

When I was running errands yesterday, I overheard someone mention padded bags.

I realized this thread needed to be re-bumped.

I also realized I'd never read past page 4.

Always an UTTER JOY

With these commitments to new member questionnaires or whatever in the moderator manifestos, can we direct new members to this thread to get an idea of moopy? I mean I know we've calmed down somewhat over the years, but I do think it still pretty much is the essence of us distilled into one thread.

That's a blinding idea. Good to give people the right idea. We should probably start looking into creating a new members topic.

Actually, perhaps include a link to Moopy Gold? And of course make sure we're putting all the good stuff there...

After posting a thread about Carl Magnus Palm myself earlier this evening, I had to re-read this thread again. :disco: doesn't even begin to cover it!

Do we know if Hermes is STILL ALIVE?

Yes, I've come across him posting HOT ABBA STATS on ukmix or the like. With a name that is a variation on the theme.

*bump* for any newer members yet to discover this. And because I've just had another fill of dear old hermes on UKmix forums.

2017 bump for Moopy Gold purposes :disco:

Who WAS CarlMagnusPalm? Time to own up and claim the glory.

I'm a bit disappointed by this. Not as funny as I expected.

Colin is on ukmix forums claiming that Michael Jackson approached Agnetha Fältskog to appear on 'I Just Can't Stop Loving You' (albeit after Whitney, Babs and Aretha all turned it down), which is something I've never heard before.

I assume this is nonsense, @Ellie?

Never heard that before. Only Babs and Whitney. Whitney was all set but Clive Davis blocked it for fear of over exposure and association for having already duetted with Jermaine a few times. Siedah was a Quincy Jones protege so was next in line.
