jark.fm 9 >> disco du soleil >> live!

LET'S HAVE A SPLASH IN THE POOL.

@Soldi you stay outside please. you're on duty. I'll have a Martini.

I never know the right words to use, but these JarkFM evenings are always such a VIBE. I feel like I'm a highflyer from the 60s just ENJOYING LIFE (when in reality it's 2021 and I'm here with Domino's)

I really want to start actually DJing. I just know I'll buy the equipment, tell everyone I'm a DJ now and then NEVER LEARN.

but I feel like I could do it.

upping the tempo a bit with this last pair :disco:

you look around and realise Tisch and Jivafox are suddenly, inexplicably, quite drunk. it dawns on you that you might be drunk too. even though your Martini is mostly pool water. you drink it anyway, shout something about Ramona Singer and leave the pool to flirt with a waiter half your age (it may, in fact, be Soldi). YES QUEEN!

Me right now:

I discovered Hot Flavor yesterday, it was a late addition. it's quite a relentless slow burn banger. no idea who Hadiya George is but I love her NONCHALANT FLOW.

Downtown was absolutely :disco: :disco: I think Spotify has chucked it on one of my daily mixes before and I remember loving it then, so it was a real treat to hear it again.

Just started Hot Flavor. The bloops are already TOUCHING me.

throwing it back a bit with this vintage soul tune from Don Blackman, as featured on the AMAZING Jayda G DJ-Kicks album which I highly recommend to anybody enjoying this selection. the stabby disco string synths :disco:!

we're now entering the (even more) gay interest middle section which I think is ALL CROWD PLEASERS. I always play these a few times in the week before doing a Jark.fm to see how they flow, and I've thrown a lot of HOMOSEXUAL SHAPES in my living room whenever my roommate is out to this run of bangers.

MOUSSE T's take on Don't Call Me Baby ramps the original up by about 12455% :disco: HAVE A BASSLINE. HAVE A HOUSE PIANO. HAVE SOME DISCO STRINGS. YASSS!

I actually forgot to check if I've used this before :D a few Roisin remixes have def been featured. but who cares? LET'S BOOGIE!

sidenote - has any recent album had a tighter remix collection than Roisin Machine? all gold.

Roses serving 70s/80s turn of the decade. Nile Rodgers on the knobs :disco: such a sexy song, easily Adam Lambert's best, although this line in the second verse does somewhat detract from the effortless sultry vibe

between the sheets, we ain't pillow talkin'
is it love, or are we just fuckin'?

:D

still, 11/10

this Roosevelt (KING OF DISCO) remix of Hypnotized is such a @FetchFugly affair. god I would kill to hear this out at some kind of outdoor afternoon affair.

I actually don't know much of Chromeo but it's funny how Green Light, a song which is all about the constant build and release, also works great at one tempo/groove the whole way through. it's just a MASSIVE SONG in any form.

Vanessa sounds freakishly like Selena Gomez on Lay With Me. which is to say she sounds fully computerised. :disco:

I do LOVE that song and that remix. What a combination.

I got a phone call so I am all out of sync now but the Don Blackman track is a wonderful bit of rare groove.

love this vintage (90s) Deep Dish number at the crunchy intersection of disco and rave :disco: makes me wanna pop a PILL!

now for a jarring Gwen Stefani interlude courtesy of Club Future Nostalgia :eyes:
