The '90s did start pretty cleanly in 1990 if you ask me.

This for example is not 1989 at all, Sinéad pushed the needle into the next decade right away. So did the Blond Ambition tour.

Ahhhh I liked some of the big songs they had but I don’t think they made a cultural impact over here. Were they huge overseas? (Genuine question)

Yeah absolutely massive for a short period of time, then the personal life took over the music and the media hounded him until he died.

They've actually sold 15m albums in the US which puts them on the all-time list. Including 6m alone for "Kick". All 4 singles from that album went Top 10, inluding a #1 for Need You Tonight.

Their trajectory was very similar to the UK, although they performed better in the US - second only to their own country Australia.
