I mean I can understand people not voting for something like THAT because it’s well known, but not voting for a song because it was well known even though next to no one had heard it seems a bit odd

I honestly don't get why people won't vote for a song because it's well known. I couldn't give a FIG.

For me part of the fun is listening to something new. So if someone were to post I Will Always Love You it wouldn't be fun for me to hear it (no matter how much I like the song!) I would also have no idea how to score it.

Irrelevant for me here though as I knew literally none of these songs anyway.

Yeah I don’t get the whole “Papaoutai was well known so I won’t vote for it”. It didn’t even chart in the UK and there were plenty of people that hadn’t heard it. Same for saying you wouldn’t vote for the Trans-X song because it was a top 10 hit at some point, I don’t think anyone said they’d heard it before, so seems a bit of an odd thing to do.
