Since there is a possibility this is out tomorrow, might as well have a thread for it.

Yah but I think the mainstream POP arena album covers are either kind of 'behind' in chasing online trends (e.g. TENSION etc.) or they break the mould in terms of trends (e.g. brat) - there's no in-between anymore. Whatever happened to a lovely '70s style GUILTY cover I ASK OF YOU.
 
I like the title of this single. Hopefully the B-side is called Stop Look Listen and is all about how to cross the road safely.
 
The chorus is doing the rounds on TikTok, which I'm assuming is intentional.
 
I am a bit done with emotopop Kylie now. Tension (I) sated that appetite. If she is going to go in any direction on the next album, I hope it's along the lines of a Confide In Me brought bang up to date.
 
I think the fact that she's not launching a standalone album with this speaks volumes about the quality of the rest of it.

I don't buy that there was any cachet to calling it the "Tension Tour". The majority of people buying tickets won't care about which album the tour is attached to. "Kylie Live 2025" would equally do the job, if not better it.
 
It feels like it was designed as a reissue of the original album, My Oh My didn't stick/ give them the result they wanted and so they sent her back in the studio to whack up a couple more songs and pulled a couple more off the floor.

I kind of think that's ok...

I view it completely differently. She's clearly brimming with confidence at the moment and post Padam has had the opportunity to go into the studio with a lot of new and different people.

As @Sheena has already mentioned, the intention was perhaps to reissue Tension with a few bonus tracks but she has been so productive that they decided to turn it into a partner piece for that album instead with a view to touring both albums (and Disco thrown in for good measure).

I wouldn't be altogether surprised if we get another new album late next year or early 2026 - she has stated on more than one occasion that she wants to capitalise while she still has the opportunity and vigour to do so.

A Kylie Live 2025 gives the impression that it's a greatest hits tour and no one wants that.
 
Incidentally a lot of these songs are from sessions held in late 2023.
 
I do agree that they were hoping My Oh My would do better though (the tracklisting on the vinyl gives that away).
 
The fact that in 2024 there's so much success and interest and love from the general public for a woman we could've lost back in 2004 just makes me absolutely grateful, to be honest.
Whatever Kylie can offer, I accept!

This. If there is anyone who knows how unpredictable life can be and the value in embracing new opportunities, it's her.
 
I suppose not doing a "new" album lets her mop up the collaborations released this year, plus gets rid of stuff she's got hanging around in the vaults. That's great, as she's not been forthcoming with those in the past.

It does smack of the feeling that it wouldn't be strong enough as a standalone album if it was released that way. Is anyone that excited about Tension (I know it's got its fans) that a continuation is the hook?
 
SHE is excited about it. Isn't that kind of the point?

Kylie has always been a bit of a stickler for touring albums and when she hasn't done, she made sure to provide an explanation/apology.

I enjoyed Tension so I have no qualms with it but equally I would not have minded if she had moved on to a new album and toured that. If she has a set idea of the sound of the next record and felt that these songs would not have fit there then why not bung them on an addendum to the last one.

Also I don't think people appreciate just how much she is recording these days. She doesn't need studio time. All she needs is an active internet connection!
 
It’s fine to me. While I don’t love the collabs, it’s still nice to see her actively making music and seemingly having fun with it. A lot of people this far along in their career aren’t so lucky.
