Kylie Netflix Documentary (1 Viewer)

Finished the first 2. From Spinning Around to Padam, at least the final installment will be swiftly paced. I've found it rather uninsightful, but some of the footage has indeed been great. I was probably most taken by the Better the Devil BTS footage as these videos are the pinnacle of Kylie iconography for me.

Ok watched the second episode tonight and wow she’s really never gotten over Michael. I have to admit I teared up a few times.

The stuff with Nick was fascinating.

As I said before, being American, most of this stuff is new to me. I’ve of course seems bits and bobs over the years but I guess I never really put that much thought in to how absolutely mean the press was to her.

It was also fun seeing this gif “in real life”

Watched episode 2 this evening, so many great moments in it (her mum saying “what will your father say!!”). Michael and Kylie were such a gorgeous couple. So fascinating to see that he was there at the photoshoot for the Rhythm of Love session.
 
Just watched episode one and it was great. I felt sorry for Jason at the end.
 
Lol did he? He got interviewed - one of 4 talking heads - Will Baker got the fuck you edit.
 
I've only seen the first episode and thought Jason Donovan's treatment in it was interesting, in that he seemed the 'wronged' one, yet also did get quite an unsympathetic edit.
 
Yeah they framed it as a first love, they show all the home vids, she meets Michael and runs off to the bathroom to talk about “songs” then Jason is dropped like a bad habit. Then she quite clearly states Micheal was the first time she had been in love or however she worded it. I’d be a bit bitter as well lol

I found that quite wild that the man wasn’t even mentioned considering how big of a part he played in her comeback. Maybe he has a part in the next episode. (I haven’t watched it yet)

That bit when she talked about her second cancer diagnosis :(

Dannii and Nick Cave were excellent value. I get they have to find points that drive the narrative of the documentary, but that leap from Showgirl Homecoming to Glastonbury gave me whiplash. Loved it anyway. She is such a treasure.

I think it sums him up really well. I'm not suggesting he's a "villain" by any means but he's an open book and almost honest to a fault. He will say in the same breath that he was massively heartbroken by Kylie but also insanely jealous of everything she was achieving.

Maybe she would have felt the same way if the roles were reversed. Who knows?

I haven't seen it yet.
 
I read that he essentially bankrupted her with his "visions" especially Les Folies which supposedly ended costing money not making money.
 
I don't think that was it..but rumour has it that it was related to finances plus the fact that he often went AWOL during work for the Kiss Me Once Tour.

Weren't all the "Wanted : Ma Baker" references on the Golden Tour essentially just digs about him?

that might explain why it was so bare bones that the main prop was a lips shaped sofa.
 
Had to pause Episode 3 multiple times cause I kept welling up on the plane.

Thought this was very well done across the board.
 
The Jason thing is weird. I’m sure he’s given dozens of interviews in which he’s very gracious about that whole era. Either they caught him on a bad day or they really did him dirty with the edit.

The constant shots of young Dannii staring daggers every time an interviewer mentioned Kylie :D
 
I have only watched the first episode so far. Waterman is hilarious 'Gods honest truth!' 'No Word of a LIE!' :D Proceeds to babble on about something probably entirely inaccurate.

Nice to see a little passing scene of recent Carol Ron and Brother :disco:

This was generally a nice episode but it was padded out with the start and you can see why people are saying the latter story is rushed and should have been four Eps.
 
You only have to quickly glance on Wikipedia to see the all the previous singles and next few singles following - outcharted Je ne sais quoi in France :D

For that and claiming Rick Astley as the biggest star of 1987 (the same year Michael Jackson released Bad MIND YOU), his family should be doing a cognitive wellness check on him.
