Kylie - Padam Padam (1st single, May 18th)

I think that’s ok. Even with Padam on ACR soon and no doubt dropping off some playlists, it’ll still be getting solid streams throughout August. Plus it’s airplay in America, even if low, is growing nicely so good to let the single breathe.

That will give the second single the best chance - week one debut and then week three with the album it should provide a good boost (whether it’s #18 or #197 in the chart), so this is a good chance to maximise whatever success they will get with the new one.

you can get a song off ACR if you're actively promoting it, right? if they're clever, TV performances of both Padam and Tension during album release week could push the former back into the top 20 (if ACR is reset) and get the latter top 40 (at the least).

actually her profile is easily high enough right now to maybe do something like The Kylie Show on ITV again...

'In exceptional circumstances, where a track is scheduled for promotion, a label may elect to manually reset a track to SCR. This manual reset is limited to two tracks per artist album, only where the track in question is outside the Top 100, and subject to one week's notice being given from the releasing label that they wish to implement a manual reset. Manual resets shall be strictly subject to Official Charts and/or CSC approval'.

Presumably it'll be excluded because it's unlikely to be outside the top 100, never mind the issue of 'exceptional circumstances'.

But to be honest I'm not entirely sure what purpose resetting Padam Padam would serve, when ACR will only kick in after three weeks again in all likelihood. Will getting three weeks more in the top 20 mean that much when it's already been a significant hit by any measure?

She's doing another ITV Special at Christmas - I think it airs Dec 18th

I think the “active promotion” caveat only applies to older songs. She can be reset to SCR if she has a big one-week bump in streaming (some small print about “relative to the market” or whatever) so maybe that’ll happen naturally when the album comes out.

Yeah I think after three years it’s a manual reset, but within that time it’s automatic if it outperforms the market by a certain amount? Hence Green Green Grass, As It Was, Cuff It and that Stephen Sanchez track all coming back in the past wee while?

It's within three years for automatic reset, subject to that outperforming the market rule.

For a manual reset it doesn't give a period, as long as the criteria for that are met, as above.

And to pick up on @Pingu's point, yes I didn't even consider that there's a good chance she could get an automatic reset, rather than needing to qualify for a manual one.

Sounds like a perfect time to release that 7" vinyl then. Because that could conceivably send it back top 10 or to a new peak :D

Will the NEW cassette mix tape add to official sales?

No, it will from this coming week. But that’s fine - it’s been trending downwards for a bit now (it’s mini London Pride boost must’ve saved it three weeks back relative to the market), so it doesn’t matter much now. But with a bit of luck it’ll get an automatic reset on album release week and get a few more cheeky weeks top 40, depending on how it’s doing in six weeks time.

Has this been confirmed anywhere? Moopy is literally the only place I've seen it mentioned.
I find it hard to believe it would have a broadcast date yet. Not read it anywhere else yet myself.

I would much rather a streamed concert rather than a TV special but I suppose with the Vegas residency that can't happen.

It's 3 weeks and THEN ACR.
So effectively FOUR weeks then? Because if she did increase streams this week we're in now, it presumably wouldn't happen next Friday.

And Loreen fell in her 10th chart week, but Kylie hasn't - so presumably Loreen had been falling for (at least) a week longer than Kylie - she must have been in her 4th week of decline so it kicked in from week 10, whereas Kylie was only her third?

She didn't increase them in her 3rd week so it really doesn't matter what happens this week.

It's all so confusing and I'm not gonna give a fuck after this so I'm not going to bother trying to understand it.

Yes, so presumably if she DID increase them this week, then she needs to do it by those 25 percentage points rule to arrest it.

Whereas had they increased by one last week, that would have been enough to stop it kicking in for a further three weeks.

Correct.

Loreen constantly decreased (since at least week 7) whereas I think Kylie had at least a 0.0001% increase, relative to the market, on maybe week seven. So weeks 8/9/10 are now her three weeks of decrease and as it’s over 9 weeks she goes to ACR.

The gays are all over it here, that's for sure. I love how she just casually steps back into international stardom whenever she feels like it.
