Lana Del Rey - Chemtrails Over The Country Club

When I saw the video lat night on Twitter I misheard it and thought she said she'll release an album full of "Classic Christmas songs" and thought :D OMG MARIAH MUST BE SHAKING!

I mean, who wouldn't want to hear a Lana del Rey rendition of Frosty The Snowman or Rudolph? Not even Annie Lennox would sound so miserable through them.

obviously we don't know yet and it could go either way but I'm expecting this to be the most essential "alternative" Christmas record since Annie Lennox sang twelve tracks about orphans and gratitude for mung beans on A Christmas Cornucopia.

I've warmed up to the idea of a Lana covers album, though I hope it leans more modern than the "American Songbook" territory. Would love to see what she could do with a "Lilac Wine" or "Fake Plastic Trees" or even "The Roof". She would sound great on those.

lana.lnk.to/chemtrails now leads to a blank Spotify page, which apparently means the title track is dropping on Friday. The same thing happened to "Norman..." and "Let Me Love You..." two or three days before they were released. She is also scheduled to perform on Jimmy Fallon on Monday Dec. 14th.
 
Not really ideal timing, is it? I mean, unless she's wrong footing us all with a festive banger but, come on, it's not that.
