Man dies after getting arm stuck in charity bin

A teenager bled to death after getting his arm stuck in a charity clothes bin in West Yorkshire, an inquest heard.

Brendan McBride was found suspended in the metal hatch of a clothes bank belonging to Save The Mothers Trust. His family believe he had been trying to clamber inside to find somewhere to sleep.

The inquest was told that Mr McBride was thought to have been standing on a plastic container so that he could reach into the bin when he slipped, getting his arm trapped and leaving him suspended.

The 19-year-old was found by a passer-by on his way to work on May 23, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The inquest into his death was opened on Tuesday and it heard how the hatch at the charity bin in Great Horton, Bradford, had caused the teenager a significant arm injury resulting in a significant amount of blood loss.

Assistant Bradford coroner Dr Dominic Bell was told that Mr McBride was known to have been drinking the night before he was found and had told his mother Paula Denison he was going to visit friends. She told him to be back by 9.30pm but he never returned.

Re the guy who died being stuck in the charity bin, it turns out he had lost his house keys and knocked on the door at midnight, his mum heard it and ignored it, not realising it was him. How awful.
 
A nurse with a cannibalism fetish bought an axe he planned to use on a girl he believed to be 14 years old before eating her, a court has heard.

Dale Bolinger, 57, used the Dark Fetish Network (DFN) to discuss beheading and eating women and girls for sexual gratification, a trial at Canterbury crown court was told.

On September 17 2012, the day before he was due to meet his alleged victim, Bolinger bought an axe from Broadstairs, Kent, and told the girl that all she needed to do was get on a train, the court heard.

The chats were discovered by the New York field office of the FBI, which was investigating internet chats about the rape, killing and cannibalism of women, prosecutor Martin Yale told the jury.

They discovered the email address meatmarketman@rocketmail.com was being accessed from a computer in Kent and the information was passed to Kent police.

The account was traced to Bolinger, who is charged with one count of attempting to meet a child under the age of 16 following sexual grooming, and he was arrested, the court heard.

Yale told the jury that Bolinger, formerly from Canterbury, Kent, had thought he was chatting to a 14-year-old Mexican girl called Eva, who was living in Germany.

During their chats he proposed to meet her at Ashford International station and discussed the sexual acts he would perform before and after her death, he said.

Mr Yale continued: "He said he would murder her with an axe or a cleaver and then he would eat her."

The court was told that Bolinger also claimed to have eaten a 39-year-old woman and a five-year-old child during chats with other users.

The prosecutor said mobile phone records showed that Bolinger was in the Ashford area between 11.56am and 12.08pm on September 18 2012, the day he had arranged to meet Eva.

But Eva, whose identity has never been established, did not arrive and Bolinger returned home.

Yale said: "It's clear from the chat logs that Mr Bolinger believed he was speaking to, and he was going to meet, a 14-year-old girl."

He told the court that chat logs obtained by Kent police contained conversations making graphic references to sexual abuse, murder and cannibalism of women and children of a wide range of ages, including babies.

He told the jury that the defendant had pleaded guilty in February to administering poison or a noxious substance to a woman after he put a cloth soaked in dry cleaning fluid over a female friend's mouth in July 2010.

Yale added that Bolinger had also sent pictures he had taken of himself with the axe to another user called "Hannah Hotwife" and told her he was going to behead someone, it is alleged.

Police seized Bolinger's phones and searched his home. They found computer discs containing indecent images of children.

Bolinger made several statements to the police admitting that the images were his but said that he had only gone to Ashford international station because he feared for the girl's personal safety following the conversations they had, the court heard.

He claimed that if she had arrived he would have gone straight to the police.

The trial continues.

Heartbroken Darius one of the first to get his hands on new iPhone in Bristol as he bids to win back his wife

Thunderstorms rattled across Bristol for hours last night, but that didn't stop determined tech lovers queuing in the rain for Apple's new iPhone 6.

Hundreds of people waited throughout the night for Apple in Quakers Friars to open at 8am this morning.

Some were armed with just t-shirt and flimsy umbrellas against the night's stormy weather.

The most keen camper had been waiting for 44 hours for the new iPhone, although most people started arriving at about 10pm on Thursday night.

The downpours and thunder started soon after that - and some people got drenched before Apple staff took pity on them and put up shelter.

Everyone in the queue had red eyes and ruffled hair by the time the sun came up, and looked grateful for the tea and coffee being dished out by Apple staff at 7am in the morning.

The first through the door was Darius Wlodarski - who queued for an incredible 44 hours to buy a new phone for his wife.

Polish-born Darius, 41, from Swindon, began queuing in Cabot Circus at noon on Wednesday to make doubly sure he would not fail to buy one of the new phones for his wife, Joanna.

The couple split up a month ago and Darius is determined to fulfil his promise to himself to buy one for her.

He does not expect the present will necessarily get them together again but hopes it will bring her some happiness.

Darius was led into the shop first by staff, after his camping feat. He was shaking as his iPhone 6 was wrapped up for him.

He said: "I think the camping out has been worth it, I want to keep this promise to my wife. I am heartbroken and devastated we split up, but now it has happened, I realise I could have been a better husband.

"I know a phone won't make up for everything that has happened between us, but I want to make her happy.

"I want to apologise to my wife and daughter.

"I have been camped out for days. People in the restaurants supported me and gave me food and drink and I'm very grateful. I haven't had a chance to look properly at the phone yet."

He added: ""Lots of people in the queue were very happy but it was different for me because of the circumstances.

"We would have been married for 20 years next February but I wasn't the best father and husband.

"It took me a while to realise what really mattered - and that is my family.

"My wife said to me I should remember that it is now 'things' that matter, that I was worrying too much about saving for things, and she was right.

"I know an iPhone is another 'thing', but I told her I would get her one and I wanted to keep my promise."

Out-of-work Darius and his wife Joanna met on the doorstep of a house party in their native Poland more than 20 years ago and he said it was "love at first sight".

Cole Wallace, 19, was one of the keen people who arrived at 10pm.

He said a sleepless night was worth the "hype" of being the first to handle the new phone.

He said: "This is the first new Apple product I've queued for. I knew this one was going to be really popular.

"I've read online how many they are expecting to sell and I just wanted to get down here.

"I am due a phone upgrade and wanted to get this one as soon as possible, I didn't want to wait until October.

"I have been trying to sleep but we got wet when we first got here and the ground is wet. I didn't bring a sleeping bag or anything. We've been chatting and trying to sleep, but I didn't get much. I think it's worth it to be one of the first here. It's so exciting."

When the store finally opened, Apple staff cheered the first customers in and ushered them towards counters piled high with the new stock.
