Yes I know the title doesn't quite work, but I got about three hours sleep last night and now I'm listening to Carpenters songs so it's what you're getting.

I'm taking my Mum to the hospital today and the nurses are striking so I'll have to cross their picket line.

I thought I might take them some DOUGHNUTS to perk them up.
It may be more appreciated now. Before Christmas I took them a tub of Celebrations given to me by one of my health centres, and they added them to a stack of chocolates large enough to supply a Tesco Express.

How could Monday have been the most depressing day of the year when it’s CLEARLY TODAY?

OH :D

I was thinking of something HOT but then I can't really carry 20 coffees and they're not easily shareable...

Only working Mon - Thurs, and having Monday and Tuesday as my busiest days always makes me feel like my working week is nearly over by Wednesday morning.

The cost is that I'm usually exhausted and incoherent on Tuesday nights, but on balance I prefer it.

Morning. I slept weirdly last night so I am a little out of sorts this morning.

Oh, and I got my first tattoo yesterday. Well the start of it anyway. Four more sessions to go!

Good morning! I got about five hours last night but feel surprisingly fresh today, so far at least :o

What are you getting?

What are you getting?
A Japanese dragon sleeve on my right arm. It’s quite a lot for my first tattoo but I’ve been wanting one for ages and settled on this particular design last year, late last year I went for a consultation and had a stencil on to see how I felt (and tricked a few Moopists to gauge their reactions - sorry guys).

I just had the outline done yesterday.

Ooh how did you find the tattoo experience?

It was strange. I was nervous the day before but somehow was strangely calm when I got there. It took about an hour and a bit to stencil it on and maybe an hour 45 to do the actual outline of the tattoo. He’s pretty quick but has been doing for 30 years or so.

It was sore but it wasn’t excruciating. Certain parts hurt more. The fleshy bits under my upper arm was the worst. Around the wrist wasn’t great either!

I struggled with the wrist, and anywhere boney. The outline tends to be the better part I found. Are you having it coloured/shaded? Because that's usually the most painful I found. Like someone is rubbing sandpaper on sun burn. It's lovely 😬

Yeah I am. Next time will be finishing off the outline. The scales on the dragon, some more blossoms and then start the shading. And I need to decide on the colour of the dragon.

I pretty much left the design up to the tattooist. The head of the dragon is on my chest panel and then the body and tail snakes round my arm with waves and blossoms. It will kinda look a bit like this when finished.

What kind of tattoo do you have? I didn’t know you had one!

How long are you waiting before you go back? I had the outline done then went back two weeks later to get the colour put in and it hurt SO MUCH I didn’t have another tattoo done for about 7 years :D And I’d already had 6 done before that.

Five weeks. And then every four weeks after that. I should be done after another 4 sessions. So that’s 18 hours in total more or less. That’s quite quick for this level of detail but he said he’s known as one of the fastest tattooists in Scotland.

Good luck. It's absolutely worth the pain but it does get tiresome and painful after hours.

I've got a not quite finished sleeve as well, I wanted something I'd never tire of, which is flowers and nature.

That’s a lovely tattoo! I wasn’t sure what to go with for mine. I definitely wanted a sleeve but couldn’t decide. I liked Polynesian/Māori but I felt it was a bit of a cultural appropriation. I thought the same with Japanese at first but I read into it and Japanese people don’t actually care and they actually are accepting and appreciative of it.

They had a good laugh at Ariana when she got hers and it said barbeque grill instead of 7 Rings

It's hard to choose isn't it, because it's on you for life and on show. I know there's probably a lot of people who don't like mine, but as long as I do that's what matters. Post photos when yours is finished!

The reason I haven't had a tattoo yet is because I've yet to decide on something I want forever. On design work I've done I've often hated stuff once I've looked at it too much and fear doing that with my own arm.

Maybe I should get something on my back so I can ignore it :D

I think I'm going to work most days at the office once we move otherwise it could be gnarly.

I've got a small one at the bottom of my back- basically a shag tag. I don't regret it per se but I entirely forget it's there and am surprised when I see it or someone behind me (ahem) mentions it. It doesn't bother me, but given the chance, I'd go back and not get it done in the first place.
