Long Ago, and Oh So Wednesday

I only got my tattoo because I was at university and two friends and I went to a parlour, both of them planning to get one, me for moral support. They spent about 2 hours in there, looking at designs and faffing about before deciding not to get one done.

I felt really bad for the tattooist and so decided I'd get one done instead. I'd actually decided to get my eyebrow pierced (don't judge me, this WAS in 1998, people) instead but he couldn't do it that day for some reason that escapes me, so I went for the FAR MORE PERMANENT idea of a tattoo.

Ridiculous, really...

So which grotty little parlour on Stokes Croft did you get it done at?
 
I was seriously thinking about mine for about three years. Once I decided on Japanese I thought of a half sleeve on the upper arm to begin with to take it slowly. The tattoo artist said we can do that but if you ever think of adding to it then there would be a join, so it wouldn’t flow as well. So I decided if I was going to go for it I may as well just do it all at once. I’m glad I did as it’s all one big connected piece. The dragon head starts on my chest and its tail ends right at my wrist.

Some people add other things such as geishas, samurai, hannya or koi but the artist said it’s best to keep it simple so it’s just the dragon. I had the choice of wind or waves and blossoms or maple leaves so I went with waves and blossoms. I let him decide the design which he spent a few hours doing the night before.

Anyway I’ll post some pics once the first part has healed properly. It doesn’t really look amazing right now as it’s just the outline. But it will. :disco:
 
I don't think I would get one. I know 'I'm too indecisive' is the go to response but I do honestly think I'd regret it in a year.

It couldn't be any worse than the nipple ring though.

Maybe that’s why you are not that bothered about it one way or the other, because it was an instant decision. I guess if you’d gone away to think you wouldn’t have gone back.
 
I'm just not a tattoo kind of person, I think.

Going back 4 or 5 years I did consider the possibility of getting one down the inside of my forearm, but never in any real way.
 
I also have a hummingbird on my ankle, and a round sunset/stalk tattoo on my other arm.

If I was to get a tattoo it would probably be a penguin, or something Fleetwood Mac related. Sadly I'm not fond of the Fleetwood Mac penguin logo, which would kill two birds (if you'll pardon the pun) with one stone.

I'm too indecisive to actually commit to anything like that though.

Or as a local drag queen (@lolly will know just who I’m talking about!) the night I had it done in the Bristol Flyer said to me, “basically, as a gay man, you’ve actually gone and got “good luck” tattooed above your arsehole”.

I clearly hadn’t thought it through :D
 
(Thankfully it does mean what I was told it says, by the way)

I once went and met a girl I'd been chatting up on CB radio :D whos handle was Angel. We were hanging about some industrial bins and she got out a marker and tagged them, writing ANGLE.

We've just been contacted by another island business wanting to stock our fudge 😍

I don't want to be cocky because I know how dodgy business is right now for people. And I really don't want to pre empt us doing well this year.

But....I really hope we do do well, I feel like we've grown the business a lot in the last year and we're getting our name out. Just have to hope people have money for fudge 🤞
