I watched this for the first time last week and Banderas was distractingly terrible!

To be honest I quite enjoyed his Che but willing to admit it's just because he looks fit.

I didn't mind Banderas but obviously his performance was no Madonna or Andrea Corr.

I just love Evita though and would have rated it ten on another day just because of that. But I decided to be extra harsh today and consider the film's flaws.

The lyrics are occasionally SO LUDICROUS. In my heart, there's an alternate universe where Patti did get to play Evita like a CARTOON VILLAIN on the big screen and it's a CAMP CLASSIC.

I love the story that Patti Lupone was offered a one-line cameo in the film as Evita's mother, which she reacted to about as well as you'd expect.
