The HMV at Westfield in Stratford seems to have disappeared. To be quite honest it was such a rag bag of tat in its dying days that I’d say good riddance

Only reason I've bought anything from New Look is because they have a tall range and the quality was pretty dire.
 
I'm pretty sure Debenhams will be fine. They are way too big a name not for someone to snap them up if the worst happens.
 
HMV here limps on, but they have lost a quarter of their floor space to Deichmann and their cheap shoes.
 
New Look is fucking shit though. The quality is almost as bad as Primark.

If Sports Direct managed to snag House Of Fraser, I'm hopeful Greggs may throw in a bid for Debenhams.
 
I haven’t set foot in a New Look for at least 10 years, but know my daughter would be devestated if it closes down. She is also a regular in River Island, but I don’t think that is quite as cheap.

Sports Direct is a HORRIBLE shop. Between that, Primark and TK Maxx I feel disgustingly queasy.

Oh I hate H&M (that said, I hate shops in general unless they’re record or book shops) although I went into Top Man a while ago and oh dear Lord the PATTERNED TROUSERS. I may have to locate a picture to convey the full horror
 
Next are good for office basics - black trousers, suit jackets, stuff like that.
 
TK Maxx have recently moved into a lovely new store here (on the ACTUAL SITE of the dearly missed BHS cafe), and while the store is genuinely nice, the whole browsing through rails and rails will always give it an air of a charity shop to me.

Plus their colour scheme makes the whole experience akin to shopping inside an internal organ.

So on the whole, I'll pass, thank you.
 
There's a Top Man in town and every time I walk past it, I can understand why masculinity is in crisis.

I was going through the understairs cupboard last night, and stumbled across a jacket I bought in H&M about a decade ago. Pleasingly, it still fitted. But what the fuck was I thinking with a black and khaki check?

I hate TK Maxx for the exact same reason. If I wanted a jumble sale I would head down to the god awful local car boot.
 
If you can be FAFFED with it then TK Maxx is actually pretty good, and I've got some good stuff out of there, but you do need patience.

Next is fine actually, quality is pretty good, and they have the best sale on the high street.
 
I do still like H&M underpants though. Not the Beckham ones, the three for £12 ones.

I always feel like I'm in an airport in TK Maxx. Dunno why, there's just something...out-of-sync about TK Maxx. Like a parallel universe but only one disquieting step from our own rather than a massive leap.

TK Maxx (and of course the smaller boutiques :disco:) is about the only clothes shop I can cope with. At least the racks are THEMED and there’s none of this, well Mr Zu, thank you for shopping at H&M and further to your wild-eyed query just now, there are some shirts HERE and also THERE and also OVER THERE and there are some THERE OH PISS OFF

What fucking annoys me is that 90% of jeans these days are either Skinny or Super Skinny. Regular is hard to come by now.
 
Now, I love an independent MINIMAL boutique. We don’t want to be running around in the same as the rest of the town darling.

That's what it's like buying jeans fucking EVERYWHERE right now.

I wish this trend for ripped jeans would hurry up and finish, my knees are NOT cut out for it. Seriously, they look like Statler and Waldorf out The Muppets.
