Moopy's Greatest Dance Anthems: Semi-Final 4. RESULTS 9pm

It looks like they've done loads. There's also a link to a medieval cover of One by Metallica, which I won't share here because a dance rate on Moopy is neither the time nor the place for such things.

On tonight's edition of 'shit I should have nominated', DJ Aligator's confrontational anti-apartheid anthem 'Lollipop'. While it's no secret that @ZenGiraffe provided the vocals on this one, you may be surprised to discover that it was on this video shoot that he met @COB who, at the time, was a jobbing actor. Skip to 0:22 to see COB's star-making turn as 'Pleather Slag #1'.

With Alison Limerick it was the tougher sounding Dancing Divaz mixed reissues of her two biggest hits I liked best in the mid 90s rather than when they first charted in 1990.

Lovely, cheers for this.

Been listening to the playlist today, and it’s giving me LIFE. Not as crazy strong as round two though.
Round two was a beast. Some of my absolute favourites are in this semi, mind. I'm not saying which ones because I don't want to influence anyone's decision, but if they don't get through I'm cancelling the rate and involving the police.

I am assuming one of these is Southern Sun so I can only apologise for my forthcoming votes. Favourite previously unknown trance slag track this round is An Angel's Love. Thanks Mr M.O.R.P.H.!

Something called ‘Slant Magazine’ has just published their hundred greatest dance songs of all time.
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.slantmagazine.com/music/100-greatest-dance-songs/amp/

I’m sorry, but what a load of WANK. How can you call it a dance rate when it’s not even got Lasgo? Clearly Americans who wrote this.

Completely unrelated, but I do remember the legions of gays who would list their favourite music simply as "Hed Kandi" (I never owned even one of those bizarrely). I'm never not surprised at people's lack of imagination when it comes to dance music - look at how many times Eternal were nominated for Best Dance at The Brits.

Oh God, Hed Kandi! What even was that? I used to see the compilations all the time, but I never actually bothered to investigate further.

There are some songs in that Slant list that are just uptempo. The Hand That Feeds by Nine Inch Nails is uptempo, but like fuck is it a dance song.
