1986, UK/USA, No. 3 smash in 1997! Recorded in 1986 and re-released annually since then, most successfully with the Now Voyager mix of 1997, ‘You Got the Love’ has undoubtably achieved legend status. It’s frequent, senseless butchering at the hands of reality singing show contestants is proof of that. Candi Staton is still alive, though at 80 years of age I doubt very much her heart is still up to her running free. This song was dragged into the road and savagely beaten by Florence & the Machine in 2009, and again a year later alongside her accomplice Dizzee Rascal. No formal charges have ever been brought.

I'm meant to be going for day drinking with friends tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing them, but I just know it's going to end up as one of those ones where I get home at eight o'clock, immediately fall asleep and wake up at quarter to midnight with a terrible hangover.
 
You've Got The Love could bring you back to life. Candi's vocals are where this song lives and dies. I hope Florence is still receiving the death threats.

1996, USA, No. 1 smash! Originally a Kate Bush-lite indie affair, this was reworked into a house smasher by our favourite avowed heterosexual Armand van Helden. The professional widow of the title is alleged to be Courtney Love, but that’s just between us. This remix samples ‘Trinidad’ by John Gibbs & the U.S. Steel Orchestra. I get the impression that Tori isn’t a massive fan of this mix, which is a pity, since I couldn’t name a single other thing she’s ever done despite being around for what feels like seventy years.

I also love the original non remixed version, but I managed to mix people up last time I talked about it so I'll say no more :D
 
Never been into Professional Widow the remix bar the middle 8, which defeats the point. Too bad we didn't get a whole album of remixes in its wake.

She liked it enough to make us sit through 20 minutes of it on her 2007 tour during A COSTUME CHANGE
 
I think Tori does like this actually. She's used it in her shows for things like interludes and costume changes. Unfortunately it's given her the idea that she recreate it and her songs often have quite big official remix releases that do nothing. :(

1996, Italy, No. 6 smash! This is the later of the two Livin’ Joy songs on our list, and the first to feature the vocals of Tameka Starr after they binned off Janice Robinson. Tameka’s real name is Doris Diggs, so she joins the Nick Bracegirdles of this world with her perfectly justified name change. No samples for this one, but Melodifestivalen ICON Velvet later covered it and I imagine it was tasteful and understated. In keeping with the incestuous spirit of Eurodance, brothers Paolo and Gianni Visnadi from the Livin’ Joy were also in Alex Party.

As this reflects the taste of everyone who voted, clearly not. Not that I don't like it, but it's sooo overrated on Moopy (IMO).
 
Tameka was sensational here and matched the rhapsody of Janice. The GMTV performance was legendary and is now on YouTube thank the heavens above.
 
See? Even when Euphoria is such a good song and already a classic, I would understand if this missed the top 50 because it's not pure dance. But fair enough.
