Moopyvision 2010-2019 Round 2: Estonia, Italy & North Macedonia - RESULTS!

Sorry but I’m not having that, and by the power of Alla invested in me I will be launching an official inquiry and changing votes if need be.

I had no idea she was this popular here. I thought Mahmood would win this easily. It's my favourite runner up of the decade.

I’ve accumulated details of where you all live on my secret database and anyone who gave generous points to LOL GORILLA will be receiving a bumper bag brimful o’ brown :):disco:

I'd have guessed my top three would be the top three, but I didnt expect the order.

I also knew I'd be gutted for whichever two didn't win.

I don't think the GORILLA has aged particularly well since 2017. Looking back I'd rather have preferred it if they'd selected the post-menopausal musings of Fifi instead.

2nd: Francesco Gabbani - Occidentali's Karma (173pts)

4 x 12s (Buttertart, Ag, Superstylin', Raining On Me)
1 x 3pts (ameraal)

So near yet so far for poor Francesco. At least at this point he's probably gotten used to disappointment, though.

An absolute monster hit in Italy, for a time in 2017 the conversation wasn't about whether this would win Eurovision, but by how big of a margin. So the ultimate 6th place finish went down as a massive disappointment, despite still being a placement the rest of the Big 5 would've killed for.]

What went wrong? Put simply, I think Francesco just got sick of his own song. The performance was overcooked from the beginning, but the manic eyes and dancing just smacked of somebody trying very hard indeed to look like he was having a good time. It didn't help that he also sort of looks like the guy you reluctantly end up going home with after Marco Mengoni knocks you back.

A shame, as on record it still holds up as an excellent pop song. But it would've felt wrong for it to win here, I feel.

Enter...

1st: Mahmood - Soldi (175pts)

*clap clap* :disco:

With all due respect to the Kevins, are we all in agreement that this totally should have win in 2019? Easily the breakout hit of last year's Contest, this married Italy's brand of detached cool with a properly banging chorus and even a touch of social commentary. All that plus yet another LOVELY SHIRT.

I genuinely think it would've (just) cracked the UK top 40 had it won. But whatever, he's touring the Continent, the song was a hit in most other places and poor sad old Duncan has barely been heard from since. There's the battle, and there's the war.

6x12s (Kevin, Kevin7, lolly, Ill Advised, sewerynsven, Jacques)
3 x 3pts (Win The Game, Kalabaliken, David 5000)

Alright I see why some of you might not think that No Degree Of Seperation is the best song of the DECADE, but the monkey nearly topping Mahmood is a perfect illustration of why moopy has been going downhill.

If we had to lose again I would have been fine with Soldi. But why would it have made the UK Top 40 if it had won? Calm After the Storm made the top 10 after finishing second.

I think both the Netherlands and Italy could have given much better performances.

I thought Mahmood was fine (and FINE)

I just don't think the dancers did a fucking thing for the performance

No Degree of Separation was, no joke, the best Eurovision entry of the decade though.

I’d say THIRD best after Hatari and those awful half-arsed Esthonian slags. Oh actually let’s just have them all JOINT FIRST :disco:

Here’s FRANCESCO BONTEMPI or whatever his name is to say muchas grazie for all the votes :disco:

Goodness he hasn’t aged very well has he. Never mind, anyone who voted is still pencilled in for a suck and mandatory swallow. Open wide now, @ButterTart :tongueout:

Chart rules changed massively two months after Calm After The Storm. Streaming basically completely shuts out Eurovision tracks now, even the winners :(

I imagine Euphoria would probably still have charted in the current system, but other than that...

VoR straight offline as soon as it's over. He's clearly on a contract.
