In that case I’d say option 1 with the strong recommendation to even the playing field with the list of countries. I mean if someone gets to choose from France and someone has to find something from Belize, it may be fun to choose, but it won’t be a very competitive field, especially as it seems you can slap the work Stockholm on any old shit and win!

no that’s fair enough, I was just expressing my preference.

A compromise could be that you end up assigning towns and cities from from countries if multiple acts from countries are entered. I for one would love to see Cheadle in Greater Manchester square up to Winnersh Triangle in Reading.

I only wanted to see what people were thinking as I didn't want to just FORCE something very unpopular on people. But I get your point.

SO I am leaning towards OPTION 2 as follows:

1 The application period will open. Everyone has say, 72 hours to register interest by saying YES in a poll.
2 Once the application period ends, the list of those saying YES will be randomised. This is kept secret for now so that people cannot work out who has selected what
3 Everyone will be sent a PM in turn in order to select their nation. I will advise which nations are already taken in the PM, so you know where you stand. This will be done during a certain period of say one evening so everyone should aim to be online. So it doesn't take DAYS for the allocation period to end.
4 Everyone has 7 days to select their song and send via PM, detailing how the song fits the rules for that nation
5 Songs will then be randomised into 2 semi finals.
6 Semi 1 will start with Semi 2 a few days later. Each semi lasts 7 days. The top 10 will qualify for the final. (Number to be confirmed, depending on the number of entries)
7 The Final of 20 songs (tbc) will then start.

I'll create a proper video for each semi etc with captions and stuff for each semi and final.

Not to be a contrarian, but can you just randomly select my country for me? I would literally draw one out of a hat anyway...
 
ANYWAY BACK TO IMPORTANT THINGS.

I am going to try to use my rather basic video editing skills and create a video which I'll upload online for us all to watch together for the song reveals. Therefore having an actual VIDEO of your song will be highly beneficial, though NOT compulsory. Think of this as Moopy's own fantasy Eurovision...
