Old TOTP (BBC4)

Rancid old TOOT like 'On My Own' and the BALLARDS of BILLY OCEAN always remind me of OUR FUCKING TUNE

God that was LAUGHABLE

It was the same day in JUNE as when Jean's MOTHER had sadly passed away the year before when the DOCTOR told her that the CANCER was now INOPERABLE. When she returned home to KEN he told her that he could not cope with her illness any longer and he was moving to SENEGAL to become a DRIVING INSTRUCTOR. This meant that she lost the house and is now living in a toilet in Tooting. Every day she goes into Woolworth's to use the facilities and whenever she hears THIS SONG it reminds her of all the good times that have gone

What other crud was on this GASH EP?

Of course now I’m wondering whether they actually HAD toilets in Woolworth’s. I do hope that the thrones were all adorned with the much-loved Winfield logo :disco:

No vile sex slurs aimed at Our Simon as far as I’m aware which is astonishing given that everyone else was doling out free record vouchers and signed photos of The Osmonds for sexy bum fun. Mind you, he looks the type to buy you dinner and sweet at the Berni rather than whacking an arm up during Billy Ocean :disco:

PRINCESS was really just STOCK/AITKEN/WATERMAN trying to RIP OFF off the JAM/LEWIS sound. They soon gave up with THAT

This never occurred to me before now but it’s obvious now you mention it. Although some things really are better left UNAPPROXIMATED

Darling she was living in a TOILET. When referring to the 'facilities' in WOOLIES obviously I meant half-inching MAQUILLAGE and listening to LES PAROLES DU JOUR

:D Sorry SWEETMEATS, obviously not paying enough attention there. I do hope the poor toilety lamb helped herself to Pic ‘n’ Mix while she was in there fingering the lip gloss. Very easy to come by as I recall, not to mention delicious, although I was of course eventually arrested :(

Simon Bates had no willy. Lost it in an accident at the zoo aged 8.

SNOOKER LOOPY
THE CHICKEN SONG (although that is ART)
ROCK ME AMADEUS (repeat of footage from previous episode, the CHEAPSKATES)

Snooker Loopy CRUD?

*inexplicably plays it for the sixth time in a row (again)*

Jean’s terrible plight (as brought to our attention by the lovely @Shirley) has continued to haunt, and I must say that the paltry selection of lavs in high street stores really does appall (even if Jean did obviously live in a toilet so the bowl was always handily in situ POUR ELLE). I’m sure that none of us has enough fingers, toes and thumbs to count the times we’ve needed a poo in Boots :(

V/Vm were fucking bonkers. I paid £100 for a 12 month subscription and probably got close to double that based on the retail cost. Falco remixes, this, that creepy as fuck Lady In Red remix. It was like a bad trip in Scarborough during the summer season in the 80's. The bloke's making serious waves as The Caretaker now.

Oh my good Lord at that ‘The Lady In Red’ remix. HE’S COMING TO GET ME MUMMY

One of my favourite features of the fabulously disorientating mauling of ‘Snooker Loopy’ is the over-amplified SNOOKER BOYS (particularly Tony Meo) :disco:

Oh dear old JAKI GRAHAM

To paraphrase an account at the time "YES I KNOW SHE WORE THAT SKIRT AND YOU COULDN'T SEE A PANTY LINE BUT SHE'S STILL QUITE BORING"

That bloody Billy Ocean ballad again. It was a long way from Red Light Spells Danger.

1986 definitely seems more miss than hit compared to what went before.

I do feel it was the LOW POINT of the 80s

Bring on STOCK AITKEN WATERMAN and the DANCE MUSIC REVOLUTION :disco:

This Patti LaBelle track isn't up to much.

Not that she isn't really quite amazing in that fur.

There was also nothing better to do :(

I used to watch it on a black and white telly

Although The Chicken Song was an amusing aside.

Skin yourself alive, learn to speak Arapahoe
Climb inside a dog, and behead an Eskimo
Eat a Renault 4, wear salami in your ears
Casserole your gran, disembowel yourself with spears
:disco:

I do obviously see what the appeal of Chas and Dave was. Two lovely cockney lads with an eye for a stacked bint, a taste for a few dozen tins of Party Seven and an ear for some clapalong singalong crap which you could almost describe as British Schlager :disco:

Mrs Mills with COCKS IF YOU WILL

What WAS the appeal of Falco?

I understand it's quite catchy, but the German rapping?

The Chicken Song was all about THE CELEBRITY MEGAMIX

I think UR CILLA got the line about EXTRACT YOUR WISDOM TEETH

This really is the era of slow songs at the disco dominating the charts.

Did that ever actually happen? I'm sure by the time, I was going out, that wasn't a thing.

I vaguely remember the I Ran The World, although from what it read it didn't stop in 1986.
