I have extremely mixed feelings about Rock Lobster.
I've always liked that era of the B-52s but that's hardly the best introduction as it does get wearing pretty fast...

The B-Side ‘I’ve Never Met a Nice South African’ was much better.Although The Chicken Song was an amusing aside.

To be honest most of the 1986 editions have been a bit hit and miss. More miss than hit. 1986 was the year that I started to drift away from Top Of The Pops and watching them again on BBC4 I can see why. The music is often uninspired, too many oldies and videos and the half hour running time makes the programme look disjointed. By mid 1987 I had stopped watching the programme altogether. For me back then it was all about Channel 4's The Chart Show which at the time was shown on a Friday. That programme moved to ITV in January 1989 and also moved to being shown on a Saturday. I didn't really ever return to watching TOTP on a regular basis but I watched The Chart Show nearly every week until the programme ended in August 1998.Well we're not missing much THERE
