The just dropped in interviews are always a bit shit but this was excruciating. I can't unsee the Rutherford gyrations.

Ben V-P only seems just about tolerable by comparison to Marti Pellow's recent performances but Misfit is a great pop song.
 
Where was I...Erasure, "Victim Of Love"...dunno, I find this a bit formulaic. But I like Vince Clarke miming acoustic guitar on a song that doesn't seem to feature any. Awkward sod.

I had totally forgotten what an over-reaction there was to that record. Surely it was ramped up by the Tory press in the run up to the election as exactly the kind of thing they were going to stamp out or somesuch. "Vote Labour and there will be fucking in the streets" or similar...

I imagine this was around the time of the AIDS monolith/Don't Die Of Ignorance campaign. And Christ knows what fuckery was going on in the US.

I'm fairly sure 'Your Sex' is mentioned in another episode, though.

I know what you mean...great track but it doesn't change much...they were a funny band ABC...went from a 5 piece to 4, to 3 then to a musical duo who portrayed themselves as a cartoon 4 piece, then just a duo and then Martin Fry made a couple of ABC albums on his own .

Was Clause 28 part of the Tory manifesto or did they start that after being re-elected? I definitely remember a *lot* of hysterical censorship around this time and feeling my intelligence was being insulted.
 
I forgot that Startrekkin' sped up as it went along...my memory told me that only happened at the very end.

It came in a little later, didn't it? I don't really remember being aware of it until after I left school in 1989.

Honestly, it's a wonder us homos of a certain age don't have even more issues.
 
I remember seeing the section 28 protest LIVE ON the SIX O CLOCK NEWS when I was kid. I presume that was about 1988.

Allegedly - I dunno if it was ever confirmed. There was a story that he did it out of spite over the whole "I Want Your Sex" thing but also that it wasn't him after all.

Actually, I;'m off to Wikipedia, see if that ever got resolved...
 
Wikpedia says it was him and it was contractual stuff. I guess that was probably why he wasn't able to say so.

He also sang the lead vocal for the single "Gave It All Away". Once again, due to contractual obligations to Epic Records, Michael was not credited for any of this.[citation needed]

That Kenny G performance was definitely different. Bit of freestyle sax was notably lacking on the Pops.
