One Very Excited ASFM - The Results - TONIGHT 8PM



I sent this to ZenGiraffe first but changed my mind as it had no video.

Thanks for the votes everyone (apart from that monster @Suomi). I have to say I’ve been kind of winging it up until now, but when I heard Diva it did kind of scream ASFM winner to me so I entered it immediately after the nominations window opened out of fear @Soldi would get his hands on it first.

Particularly enjoyed him calling it a load of shit in the sync listens only to give it 18 points in the end so I can only assume I actually did beat him to it. :disco:

Thanks @ZenGiraffe for a great contest - I loved the voting reveal from the start, and anybody who claims I said anything to the contrary is a filthy liar.

And also thanks @Ill Advised for the 20 points and for sending such a brilliant song that I’ve been obsessed with since I first heard it at 6pm yesterday.
 
What a results show! This format is so much better then the individual votes reveal as it’s so much more exciting!

I’m really pleased with seventh place. I discovered Bonnie’s song on some random YouTube rabbit hole a few years ago and instantly loved it. I actually originally entered it back in @ButterTart ‘s covers contest two years ago, (the original was not a hit and by a male vocalist so I was never gonna send that version) - not sure if he remembered, but I changed it because the original was unknown and thought it was cheating a bit.

Surprised that others are surprised in my choice, I thought it was pretty much my style down to a T. Thank you to everyone who voted 😘

Well done to everyone and especially out top three of @Rita @OutSynk and @Pingu - all throughly deserved🥳

Finally thanks to @ZenGiraffe for being a wonderful host!

Now… anyone up for a speed round? I think we can do one from start to finish in seven days, don’t you?

Three minutes might be a tad tight though, given most songs aren't composed with Eurovision in mind (unfortunately)

Half the songs released now are less than three minutes long anyway, and shorter length means we can do a first listen to all in one night without it taking forever. Short and sweet.

This style of results was one big sweaty itch, I applaud you @ZenGiraffe. Really enjoyed that, although, obviously it helps when you're higher up the list! Never a bad idea to change up the format temporarily.

Thanks to everyone who gave Bernice and her comfy jumper points, especially @OutSynk (I found her on a youtube deep dive, I can't even remember how - sadly nothing else lives up to Jona, though a few others are semi-bops) and @Alex @Kratz for the 20s :love:

I must admit I did wonder if I could win it this time after all the great comments but it was such a strong round, it really seemed to bring out the best of ASFM. Bonnie and whatever @Ag sent were truly TOP DRAWER 80s cuts. And I knew as soon as I heard Bellissima I was likely never beating it.

A pleasing winner, though I did think shit fuck shit when it was positioned directly after mine in the playlist! Not that it makes much difference to these things probably.

But also how she kept reminding me of (maybe it was the hair) that Belgian Eurovision girl from 2016, Laura something, which I worried would have people recoiling in horror (along with the beautiful jumpers).

I thought exactly the same about yours being positioned before mine. I was convinced it had it in the bag and had completely ruined any impact Diva might have. 😰
