I love this, and thought it was a solid third single choice. Her momentum clearly slowed in early 2009 after the comeback interest waned and the tour killed the campaign stone dead. I don't think any of that was attributable to "If U Seek Amy".
 
If we are talking Britney, I'd contribute this. In general, her single choices have been mostly solid. "Outrageous" is debatable but that was aborted anyway.

 


Of course we all know that post-'Nipplegate', sexist racist America would not have given Miss Jackson a hit even if she had released something in the calibre of 'If' or 'That's the Way Love Goes', but this was still far too meek and mild for my liking..

"All Nite" would have been a no brainer lead single to me. I get why they chose "Just a Little While" since it is in the same vein as "Doesn't Really Matter" etc but trends had quickly changed in 2004 from 2000.

I was going to say, it feels like one of their signature hits, but I see it peaked at #119 with a Strictly performance so maybe it was saved from irrelevance by that nightmarish thanksgiving mash-up on Glee :D

The next lot made up for it, but unless they opted for some kind of a soft release function I don't get why it came out at all. The verses are fine, but the chorus is a total turtle head. Don't Ask Me Why, Angel and King & Queen of America are all deluxe in comparison.

ABSOLUTELY! And to make matters worse, the B side to this appears nowhere else and should have been the A side (in my opinion).

 


Probably a good example of why there should always be someone in the room NOT on coke when making important career decisions.
 
I don't know that I've ever watched the Island of Lost Souls video in full before. What a MESS :D

Was there actually much better on the album though?

I somewhat agree. It was absolutely the right choice though even if it was not what I was looking for. I think the X Factor performance being a lot better than I expected it to be helped me feel this way - it felt like it gave her an occaision to bask in a moment of rare recognition that reeling in the dancing fairies just wouldn't have, although Sirens would have done this all for her on an even higher level. I think I also accept this as a single more because that MOR whiff of country has been in quite a few of her albums.
 
Was it really Geri's decision to release DESIRE her Love Never Loved Me? :D
 
Cher's vocal delivery on I Hope You Find It is phenomenal, particularly when we can compare it to the Miley version of the song

I don’t think that song hurt P!nk in any meaningful way. She's over 40, it's remarkable that she's still having any singles chart action at all. Certainly anything past the lead single from a new album can't realistically be expected to do much of anything.

Walk Me Home from her most recent album got to #8 UK and #49 USA. Not as big as What About Us, but far from a disaster and the album sold decently.

Walk Me Home might not have been a super smash but it was a fairly decent sized hit, I’m sure it went top 10 in the UK?
