one of the things that grinds my tits something chronic is Americans over-pronouncing the "gate" of Harrogate or the "bury" of Glastonbury or the "ham" of Buckingham.

BUCKING-HAM PALACE.
GLASTON-BERRY.
HARROW-GATE.
EDIN-BERRRG.

No honey. like all civilised human beings we pronounce as few letters as possible. stop being so enthusiastic.

I guess I'll just jot down a list of words to NOT say during the dreaded Christmas party. Other than Edinburgh, I would say literally all of those the way you don't like

Do you say Edin-buh-ruh or EdinBRA like us locals?

PROBABLY

And don't get me started on the difference between Maryland the US state and Maryland the lovely bit of Stratford where the E17 sauna is.

Omg how is the E17 Maryland pronounced. I went there once to BUY SOME FABRIC (not the sauna, I’ve never been but heard it’s SUITABLY GRIM)

The NORMAL way. Unlike the US State which seems to be Merlnn' (@RJN and his lovely deep voice to confirm)

Deep voice???
MERLNN'''??? Have you been talking to a plantation owner in 1860?

How does one pronounce Maryland with the classy sounding spa?

How do you all pronounce ECCLEFECHAN as I don’t have a bloody clue?

We have family in Maryland (well HAD, they moved to BLOODY ALASKA for some reason), and they pronounced it kind of 'Merrillun'

IS THERE A GIF OF THIS :D
The place was on two floors and I was on the upper level strutting around in just my towel.

I was walking along and the floor gave way beneath me. I got wedged in at my waist and I could see my legs flapping below me and all the people on the lower ground brushing bits of ceiling of them. I had to be lifted out!

:D :D :D

(Imagining Homer Simpson getting stuck in the water slide :disco:)

surely Maryland should indeed rhyme with Fairyland, and not BLEHHHRRL'N.
