If Charlotte would manage top 5 in the final I don’t think it’s impossible to get Carola or Sanna on next year :)

Both of them have been tempted but are declining because of the risks involved.

Sanna because she now has a very stable and elevated career as Sweden’s best ESC entry since Loreen. Carola because she’s afraid of being hated and wouldn’t complete in anything unless she believes she can be the best.

Bizarrely, I'd say Carola is more likely to come back before Sanna, for the reason you mentioned - she just doesn't need it anymore.

Now that Carola is signed on for the upcoming season of Let's Dance, I reckon she's due a Melodifestivalen comeback as soon as in 2022.

I think you are right, but that's only if she's content to continue as a host/tv personality and let her singing career slowly die out.

Sanna being signed to SVT as a host for that summer singing show (and now Melodifestivalen) probably also prevents her from taking part. Mans resigned from that show because it obstructed his singing career. If Sanna quits or, god forbids, gets fired I think we just might see her here again already next year.
 
Btw, Charlotte truly needs this to go well! After 10 years of lukewarm reception I'm not even sure she'd make Top 5 of Swedish Schlager Divas if I'd ranked them. One more failure and she's balancing at the cusp of being demoted to B-list!

this is nonsense! She’s won TWICE which makes her a LEGEND, let alone the fact that she’s ALSO won the actual Eurovision Song Contest. She can do what she wants, which is why she can get away with artistic gluttony like “Mitt Liv”

also, none of her contemporaries generate as much media coverage as her. The outside world equivalent would be like saying Janet Jackson or Madonna were in danger of being considered on the same tier as Rita Ora or something - their legendary statuses are SIGNED, SEALED, DELIVERED.
 
Yeah all the magazines were COVERED in Charlotte front pages and centrespreads when I flew out to see heat 1 in 2017 - THE PEOPLE DEMAND CHARLOTTE

I don’t even know if I can watch really. In retrospect I was blessed in week one when I was dressed as an elf and couldn’t watch - VoR and I used the same system of communication that we’d come up with when I was locked in the embassy, to send me one balloon emoticon if the results were not good - but this week is like 10x that. Maybe I’ll just start drinking at 4pm or something.
