RANDOM THINGS YOU HATE

People who don’t understand the concept of how humans become friends. I saw some woman in her 20s on the BBC this morning talking about her love for Pokemon, as they were talking about it being the 30th anniversary. Apparently Pokemon is quite unique in that it helped form some of her existing friendship groups.

Yeah, no shit. The concept of having a shared interest and that being an initial foundation for a friendship? What a revelation!

I’ve seen this claimed about all sorts of things, and quite a lot of people seem to think that their particular interest is special for this reason.
 
I know we've had it before, but I really am pissed off by the constant need for feedback about almost every bloody transaction you have now.

I used a cashpoint in Santander last week, only to have an email within seconds asking me about 'my experience' and since then two bloody reminders because frankly I have better things to do.

PISS OFF AND LEAVE ME ALONE
 
The one that REALLY irritates me is the email as soon as you've collected anything from an Amazon locker.

YOU LEFT IT IN A BIG METAL BOX. I COLLECTED IT FROM THE BIG METAL BOX. HOW GOOD CAN MY 'EXPERIENCE' BE?

I hate the people who'll first send a 'Hello" and then there'll be another 20-60 seconds while they type their message.

JUST WRITE HELLO WITH THE MESSAGE AND SEND IT ALL IN ONE GO

And don't get me started on the STUPID CUNTS who'll start with "Hello"... "How are you?" expecting you to go through that TEDIOUS MOTION before they get to whatever they came to bother you with in the first place

Just ask me what you want to ask me, or impart the info I need to know. Don't go through the charade of pretending you care. Nobody has time for that. We're at work, not going out for a coffee.

I have one colleague whom I sit next to when we’re in the office. We’re part of the handful that come in more often than anyone else, but on the odd occasion he works from home, he has to ask me how I am in a Teams message. I SAW YOU YESTERDAY AND WILL SEE YOU TOMORROW. WHO CARES?

Fucking hate it. No one is checking out your fit. I am wearing trainers older than my teenage child.
 
Just SNL generally. I have watched a fair range of sketches over the years and I would say 9 in 10 are actively unfunny.
 
The evil Microsoft Copilot adverts that are flooding the internet

AI helping people with their boring spreadsheets is one thing

But Microsoft gleefully portraying people relying on chatbots to navigate personal family relationships or manage self-care as if that is somehow ASPIRATIONAL is utterly repulsive and obnoxious beyond measure.
 
I have work colleagues who have gone so far down the AI hole that they don't even bother fact checking it anymore. I have to do it for them. And they're sometimes wrong.

Literally what are you for anymore then? Please just hand over your job already.
 
Being frequently judged in a negative way for working in the public sector, as if it’s easy. I just recently had to re-apply for my own job because of having to make recruitment “transparent” and offer roles up to everyone. Very nearly had to face a 25% pay cut, which thankfully didn’t happen, but did to another team member and I just feel awful for him.

I just got yelled at today from someone who said “YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE WORKING FOR A PRIVATE COMPANY” because I didn’t think it was much of a problem that one of their staff’s leaving drinks is due to be during one of the announced tube strikes that may or may not happen. Apparently suggesting to reschedule the drinks and meal for a different day was naive :manson:

Someone at work who’s not based in our office messaged me “Hi Lucy, I hope you’re having a nice day”

I waited for the follow-up text but because I didn’t respond to that I never got it!
 
Any re-usable sippy cup or water flask. Firstly deeply un-chic, secondly I don’t believe any are ever properly cleaned.
 
Special mention to the particularly EVIL coffee shop near my office that doesn’t do takeaway cups, and will only serve you takeout if you bring your own FLASK.
 
The coffee version of the dreaded 'zero waste shop/supermarket'. Something I've already mentioned in this thread but deserves a repeat entry for being DIRE
