Reform UK

I think if he was in most constituencies it might backfire because the average British voter hates being made to engage in an election unnecessarily and might see the vanity in it. However Clacton is way out there. Plus he's gaslighting them by saying Reform's millions (the same millions!) will pay for the by-election

Kemi Badenoch has implied the Tories might not even field a candidate:

What I’m focused on right now, and I’ve set my team on it, is how to make sure that we avoid wasting taxpayers’ money with two byelections, and we’re exploring every avenue, so until that’s decided I’m not saying anything about what’s happening in Clacton.

There should not be a byelection when the standards committee has not ruled, and the fact is, this doesn’t even stop the ruling. It doesn’t stop the ruling, it just pauses it.

Perhaps at best it’s still going to happen, so he can run as much as he likes from the investigation, he cannot hide, and the people of Clacton, in my view, are going to take a pretty dim view of their MP wasting everybody’s time and money just because he’s having a hissy fit.

Seems mad but could work - allows giant anti-Reform vote - doesn't technically doesn't represent Left or Right - and shows entire escapade up for the ego folly it is. Everyone could sit it out and rise above it. The PM technically usually probably couldn't - but he's going anyway - so he could indulge this. Turn it into another Tatton anti fraud thing.

I would absolutely back Binface as a unity candidate. Farage is desperately trying to build a narrative that the people don’t care about his corruption to defang the standards committee. Everyone else should just leave him to bicker with Restore about who hates brown people more.

So it appears all the other parties are refusing to stand, entirely taking the wind out of his sails. Low key iconic - win, but against no-one.

Polanski's retweets suggest the Greens are still running.

Which I think would be the only even vaguely viable option against him right now.

Though Binface is more fun.

The electorate in that seat is so right wing, I honestly think the novelty candidate has a better shot :D

Greens OUT!

This could end up being an amazing by-election. Get LadBible on the case. Get the Archbishop of Banterbury. Make it a meme campaign with maximum hinged humour, and get that bin elected

This is going to be fucking magical. British democracy truly delivering the kicking that man deserves. Gorgeous.

I'm in the local Green WhatsApp (which us basically one of the neighbouring constituencies), and several are agog about having it snatched from them from above. I just pointed out what a clown he's going to look on a local and national stage.

The Greens are still being described as a fringe party by the mainstream media, they are absolutely right not to get involved in this. Even the Monster Raving Lonny Party should stand aside, Farage Vs Binface is exactly the humilation the bastard deserves and I reckon Binface will take this in his stride. The only possible risk is some of the Clacton 'faithful' getting physical.
