Rihanna to headline 2023 Superbowl halftime show (definitely)

Still think that was a weird setlist. That doesn’t read Rihanna Greatest Hits at all.
how?

We Found Love
Where Have You Been
Diamonds
Only Girl (in the World)
Umbrella
Wild Thoughts
Work
Rude Boy

are all some of her biggest hits ever

All of the Lights and Bitch Better Have My Money were kind of strange choices (and Pour it up, arguably) but still worked. It all paced well. She was on that Floating platform for a bit too long, IMO, but whatever.

I didn't come away from it disliking her. She's always leaned into the chilled aspect of her personality as a superstar and it's always worked for her, just less so on a huge stage.

I have a strong feeling she's just PETTY, got herself pregnant as soon as she could after giving birth to Asap Fenty Jr., signed up for this and showed up as a statement of her not giving a fuck about music anymore so fans and the media can leave her alone so she can continue hawking her Sephora lip kits.

This is not a woman who's interested or wants to go back to being a pop star anytime soon!

I wonder what Yougov are referring to

‘I have no new information on new music’ meaning I’LL BE READY WHEN I’M READY

You think she got pregnant out of spite? :D

She's such a captivating performer, even with the low-key (by Superbowl standards ONLY) staging - and what an all killer no filler setlist :disco:

She owns 30% of a 1.5 billion dollar brand that is up there holding its own against the most high end luxury brands.

Making music (financially speaking) is the equivalent of you or me going back to our £10 a week paper rounds… unless it’s because she has something creatively she wants to say we aren’t seeing it for some time. If ever.

From what I read she found out 4 months ago. I am pretty sure her invite to the Super Bowl would not be arranged if they knew she was going to be pregnant Which obviously this baby must have not been planned. Everyone is going to be easy on her because the fact that she is pregnant. Realistically why would the Super Bowl hire her if she was already pregnant at the time? These types of shows are already in the works for next year. I bet they already have their picks and we'll find out in a few months.

They were actually hoping she would have given birth by now. They'd planned a whole bit where she did a hail mary pass with the baby.

I mean it's not like she gave us high energy choreo when she wasn't pregnant, so I don't see any real difference here. I just think the lack of new music is a missed opportunity is all. They could've at least thrown out a "greatest hits" compilation a la The Weeknd to coincide with the performance with 1-2 new tracks.

this not being the finale moment was the real missed opportunity imo. feels like a more iconic/enduring song than Diamonds.

Finally got around to watching this. She's got so many HITS and bucketloads of charisma :disco:
