So I have been meaning to get in to this for quite some time, and when I heard about the launch of the UK show it really piqued my interest. I am on episode one of Drag Race UK, and am just taking it all in.
 
Scaredy Kat is straight, and his girlfriend is also a drag queen? I don’t understand. :confused:

Scaredy doesn't identify as straight - quite militant about it, in fact. He and his AFAB* partner are both QUEER!

*assigned female at birth

I need a full review and first impressions after episode 1, @Rita . I'm really curious about a DR virgin watching this now.
 
Ru Paul really is everything. She is aesthetically beautiful.
 
After watching the first episode I must say it was rather a lot to get my head around. I must admit that during the Off with her head challenge I did wonder to myself what the FUCK am I watching, but I felt it got a lot better as it went on. I love the catty comments throughout, and the critiques from Ru, Michelle and the guest judges all hit the spot. My highlight had to be either The Vivienne? dressed as the Queen on a days hunting ( WTF? :D), or Vinegar Strokes slaying that end lip syncing routine to New Rules. All in all, WHAT A SHOW. :disco:
 
May I ask what the term “untucked” means when they go backstage?

Untucking is the process by which they release their concealed ('tucked') genitals back to a normal position, but in this case it just means relax/chat about how things are going.

At first I thought it was because she thought us silly UK viewers won't be AU FAIT with such terminology.

Now I think the poor dear is just reminding herself.

So I am on episode 4 now girls, and as said by Our very own @lolly it just seems to be getting better and better. The Vivienne HAS to be my favourite, and I do love the sass of Baga but I do hope one of the queens knock that bitch down a peg or 2.
 
So they are playing the first snatch game, and I have no clue what that is, but The Vivienne’s impersonation of Cilla almost knocked me DEAD. :D
 
Did Vinegar Strokes get axes because she was really just a pretty useless drag queen as I felt she put more in to the Lip Sync that Sum Ting Wong?

They do the snatch game every series, it is usually most people's favourite/most anticipated episode, as it usually features a few STANDOUT performances, as well as more often, some embarrassingly HOPELESS ones. It lands mid-season and usually sorts the WHEAT from the CHAFF.

The Vivienne as Trump, and Baga as Thatcher absolutely nailed it for me. Everyone else was varying shades of beige, and I am not sure if Divina would have done a better job than Baga as Thatcher. She doesn’t seem to have the same EDGE.
 
In case it's not obvious (it wasn't to me) the name Snatch Game is a play on Match Game, which is what Blankety Blank was called in the US.

I think the general consensus is that it was a strong year this year. Even the weaker ones weren't the howlers you get some years.

No, I did not realise that in the slightest. I had it in my head it was snatch a wig game for some reason.

I’m guessing it’s for all the newbies who watch who’ve never seen it before. I know quite a few who are watching this who have never seen it before, and don't know the terminology.
